Da-TAH! Its Nella time again – this time, its a perfectly autumnal shade called Chestnut Road.  Lets look at some pictures…..

Wow, what a colour, its just stunning.  The shade just screams autumn.  Formula is good, this is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped of with Essie Gel-Setter top coat.  It wore like iron.  Seriously impressed.

On the website you can search by collection, there are eight sets and one set of top and base coat www.nellamilano.com.  You can also visit the brand on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest or Facebook to keep up to date with releases and current shades.  The price point is £8.95.  But this week, Chestnut Road should be on offer for £4.95, so if you like the look of this, this is the week to take the plunge and buy!

Another Nella Milano shade to share with you today, this one is Iron Spring a neutral shade, described as steely-browny-grey….

IMG_7261I’ve already done a review of this polish, and you can check that out here!  This is SUCH a great shade for that late summer/autumn transition period.

Nella Milano – Desert Fox

Its mid week and so its Nella Milano time again – this week the polish in focus is Desert Fox.  Lets check out some pics!

This is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 topped with Nails Inc Kensington Top Coat.  This is a proper nude or camel shade, not 100% sure that the colour is me, but I can see the appeal in a nnude or nearly nude color for work or on days when you don’t want to draw attention to your nails.  Formula was good, again almost a one coater, but two meant much better and more even coverage.  Drying time was average and I loved the fact the formula was good and it didn’t pool my cuticles.

Chanel – Terrana

I’m a bit late to the Chanel Summer party this year, there a four gorgeous shades in the Chanel Méditerranée Summer 2015 collection.  Only one of the four appears to be limited edition and it was the one the spoke directly to me.  So of course I had to have it.  This is Terrana.

Now I’ll be honest here, I have very few browns in my collection.  No true browns.  A few taupes.  Some coppers.  But only really one chocolate brown.  Nothing like this.  This is lovely.  Really seriously lovely.  The colour is popping off my suntanned skin.  It really works hard to make my nails look awesome!

The formula is good, not as perfect as the creme formula, but excellent.  Its an easy two coats.  Bish bosh and you are done.  This is over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped with Nails Inc Kensington Top Coat.  Drying time was average.  The Chanel brush is thin and flexible, easy to use in other words!

I do really fancy the other three in this collection, even another Chanel red… but I have been very very good.  This is the only one I have.  Did you pick up anything from this collection?  Let me know in the comments!

Nella Milano – Sizzling Sienna

*Disclosure: This product was sent to me for review but this does not influence the opinions expressed in this blog which are entirely my own.

Today I have a lovely Nella Milano shade to share with you.   This one is called Sizzling Sienna and is from the Lorescen Collection. The website calls this a low key elegant pink and references Tuscan Villas.  Once I read that I could visualise the landscape in my head!  Anyway, enough daydreaming lets see this polish!

Above we have two coats over a base of Essence Anti Split and Peel Base coat.  Formula was lovely, it went on easily spreading well but not pooling. In fact the formula was almost a one coat wonder, but to ensure an even finish I did two on all fingers.

It dries quickly and is super glossy without a top coat.  Out of habit, and preference, I added a top coat of Nails Inc Kensington Top Coat.  Just to seal in that polish.  Its a hard colour to describe, but I’d say its a light terracotta pink.

In their own words ‘Made in France, Nella Milano nail lacquers are colour rich and long-lasting, making it very easy to keep your nails naturally chic at all times.  Nella Milano stands for effortlessly stylish, elegant and fashionable.  There is a Nella for any mood and personality and Nella Milano colours will perfect and complement any individual style.’

On the website you can search by collection, there are eight sets and one set of top and base coat www.nellamilano.com.  You can also visit the brand on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest or Facebook to keep up to date with releases and current shades.  The price point is £8.95.  However, Sizzling Sienna is currently on offer at £4.47 – so no excuse really if you like the look of this.

NOTD – L’Oreal Brit Invasion (US Release)

I’ve been having fun digging about the stash and pulling out older shades that you may (or may not) have seen on the blog before. I thought it might be nice to do some quick Nail of The Day (NOTD) posts for you.

This one I got from a friend in the US as part of a polish exchange group, way before the RM restrictions on posting polish came into force.  I googled and it looks like part of a 2012 release for Fall, a whole load of London/UK named polishes.  Its NOTHING LIKE IT IS IN THE BOTTLE.  What a bummer.  But I still love this.

I have previously blogged about this here (should have checked that first, it has the details on the collection!)

Revlon Parfumerie – Italian Leather

I have another of those lovely Poundworld bargains for you today – this is another of the Revlon Parfumerie range, so not only do you get a gorgeous colour and a lovely bottle, there is a fab scent to the polish once it is dry.  This one is Italian Leather, one of the ones I had my eye on for a long long time!

This is a lovely shade, slightly unusual and therefore hard to describe.  Buts is a golden brown, with hints of green and black.  It really is multidimensional colour.  Formula is good, this is two medium coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped with G&G HK Girl to lock in the shine.  Scent is a bit weird, but in a good way, I don’t find the scents too strong but I know some people find them overpowering.  A top coat does take the edge off but you can still smell it.

I love shades like this, hard to describe and lovely for autumn.  I;ve not been to a Poundworld in a couple of weeks so there may be new things to see.  So go go go!

Sally Hansen – Ripple Effect

Today I have a combo for you that I fell hard for.  I just adore this combination of colours! Lets hit the pics

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is Sally Hansen Ripple Effect from the Spring 2014 Xtreme Wear Color Vibrations Glitter Mania Collection (wow THAT is a mouthful!) of which I have a few coming up over the next few weeks (blame eBay not me, I don’t have a nail polish problem oh no…).  If you want to see the rest of the collection (and guess what else I bought) you can see it over here on Nouveau Cheap.

Anyway, this is two coats of Ripple Effect over a base of Barry M Lychee.  I love the colour combination of the brown with the cool golds in this one.  Not a huge gold fan, but the Lychee base stops its from being too yellow.  The polish is made up from very small brown glitters with mainly gold in small to large sizes, although the press image does make it look more brown – hence my purchase.

Formula was as per most SH Xtreme Glitters, a bit of the gloopy side.  Glitter distribution is a bit uneven hence two coats as its best to do two instead of one thick never drying layer.  I top coated with G&G HK Girl to really seal all those glitters in and give a great shiny finish.

You can pick up Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes in the UK, but only on occasion due we get any of the ltd editions in that range.  And I’ve never seen a line of Xtreme Wear polishes in the mainland UK unless its in a cosmetics discounter, so its exceptionally unlikely that we were ever get these here.  Hence me going a bit nuts of eBay at $4 each…..

What else do you think I should try this over?  Crushing on this hard so its going to be a hard combo to beat!  Let me know in the comments.

Maybelline Color Show Crystallize – Red Excess

So after all the excitement of finding yet ANOTHER limited edition range from Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish, I snapped up all four in a buy one get one half price deal (seems rude not to!) and I shared my new findings on Twitter.  You may have noticed, I popped up on Nouveau Cheap (exciting!) and so have picked up a few new readers – so hello if you are new to my blog and welcome to my world!

20140313-172657.jpg

This was the one from the range that had me smitten first, and I knew I would have it on my nails before the night was out.  And I did!  This is Red Excess.

Right, I know what you are thinking – that looks just like Countess from Barry M or Stay the Night Liquid Sand.  I did initially too!  However, this is a dark brown with COPPER glitter accents.  Not red as in Stay the Night or in the same shade as the base colour in Countess.  No no.  This is just GORGEOUS!  No idea why they have used Red in the title because frankly its a bit misleading.  Towards the end of the slideshow you will see comparisons with a nail stick with Countess on.  It has a different base colour, so its not a dupe, but it is close than any others I have found.

Anyway, formula was good.  Drying time was longer than some other textured shades I have – care needed if you do two coats close together as you can ding the underlying layer.  Occupational hazard however. Once dry, its a bit like cooled sugar.  Slightly rough to the touch, but not exceptionally bumpy.  Bit of a pain to remove as that copper glitter welds itself onto your nail bed.

What do you think of the Crystallize Polish range – are you over texture yet because I am so not! Let me know what you think in the comments

EDIT – I did some Googling, these are other shades in the range according the Maybelline French website here, other shades include Silver Touch (pale lavender silver akin to P2 Strict) and Green Depth (looks a lot like L’Oreal Hidden Gems or a glittered up Rimmel Space Dust in  Total Eclipse).
