Two very quick spots for you today – first up, the Collection Mardi Gras range is now is Superdrug stores. Having had empty stands for a week, I’ve now seen this in three stores. I’m kinda digging the yellow! Then I spotted the new limited edition Barry Ms for summer, these are the two available in Boots. There is a different pair available in Superdrug.
The new pastel shades.
I popped into Selfridges too, because you never know if Chanel Summer 2014 will hit early (its hadn’t!) but there is an exclusive range from Dior called Kingdom of colour. Four shades of polish here, including a pearl top coat. Shades are 428 Sienna, 237 Milly 257 Incognito and 129 Femme Fleur (I think!)
….and Maybelline Color Show inserts for more new nude shades? These are either new or re-promotes from the core range, but the Stripped Nudes Collection only had four shades in it and two of them were glitter…..
And then finally for your viewing pleasure, updates to the Collection (Or Collection2000) stand with a summer collection. Image below shows the art work – the lippies are not like colour washes you get in Baby Lips and not creme colour. Hence green, yellow and orange shades.
So, there we go. A few new things to keep your eyes out for this week. Let me know if you spot anything else that is new or pick up anything!
Today I have one of the new Barry M Gelly Polishes for your viewing pleasure. This one is called Coconut – and is the loveliest shade of just off white I have seen in a long tim.
I must admit, despite having a few Barry M Gelly polishes, I’m not completely sold on the formula of them. I always find them quite streaky during application and prone to dragging if you aren’t careful. One the positive, they do tend to level out and once top coated look pretty lovely – plus lets be honest, the colour range is spectacular.
This one was quite streaky on application. Most nails have two coats, but on one or two nails, I had to add a third coat to cover bald spots. This is over a base of G&G Stuck on Blu! and topped with a coat of G&G HK Girl. Wear was shocking, I lasted overnight before chips appeared. Really disappointing as I adore the shade and think it will be great under glitter and stamping.
Some of the new Summer 2014 Gelly’s are just lovely – I could possibly be tempted with more – but it will have to be in a 3 for 2 promotion. Otherwise I’m sorry to say I won’t be buying them because of the issues with the formula I seem to have. I know that other bloggers adore these and perhaps its my combination of base and top coats. I will try these again with a different combination.
Are you into the 2014 Gelly’s? What top and base coats do you wear with yours? Let me know in the comments!
Today I have a combo for you that I fell hard for. I just adore this combination of colours! Lets hit the pics
This is Sally Hansen Ripple Effect from the Spring 2014 Xtreme Wear Color Vibrations Glitter Mania Collection (wow THAT is a mouthful!) of which I have a few coming up over the next few weeks (blame eBay not me, I don’t have a nail polish problem oh no…). If you want to see the rest of the collection (and guess what else I bought) you can see it over here on Nouveau Cheap.
Anyway, this is two coats of Ripple Effect over a base of Barry M Lychee. I love the colour combination of the brown with the cool golds in this one. Not a huge gold fan, but the Lychee base stops its from being too yellow. The polish is made up from very small brown glitters with mainly gold in small to large sizes, although the press image does make it look more brown – hence my purchase.
Formula was as per most SH Xtreme Glitters, a bit of the gloopy side. Glitter distribution is a bit uneven hence two coats as its best to do two instead of one thick never drying layer. I top coated with G&G HK Girl to really seal all those glitters in and give a great shiny finish.
You can pick up Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes in the UK, but only on occasion due we get any of the ltd editions in that range. And I’ve never seen a line of Xtreme Wear polishes in the mainland UK unless its in a cosmetics discounter, so its exceptionally unlikely that we were ever get these here. Hence me going a bit nuts of eBay at $4 each…..
What else do you think I should try this over? Crushing on this hard so its going to be a hard combo to beat! Let me know in the comments.
Sneak preview of the new pastel shades of texture from GOSH too.
New Revlon toppers in Black and Red, similar to many available in the US market but a bit unique to the UK.
And then, I’ve seen this a couple of times now, an update to the Barry M stands explaining how to ‘use’ the Aquarium shades.
So another quick run through for you all there, anything catch your eye?
Oh my goodness! Color Show by Maybelline are at it again! Another new range – this one appears to be texture polishes. four shades in total as per all Ltd Ed Color Show releases in Europe. One of them looks distinctly duochrome-ish, like a textured Downtown Brown….
From the left, Nearly Black, Light Up, Red Excess & Rose Chic. Here you can see what the US might be getting, this includes on that looks very much like Rimmel Space Dust Total Eclipse (a green/blue duochrome)
Then LOTS of Rita Ora for Rimmel all over the place… stand after stand after stand…
After stand….so many shades I can’t be bothered to name them all. Plus there is NOTHING on the Rimmel website which I think is a bit poor for a HUGE release like this.
Also new on shelves, Barry M Aquarium Nails. Each ‘set’ is three polishes, two duochromes (a bit like Sally Hansen Lustre Shine polishes ) and one glitter. Shades are a blue set or a red set.
As you can see, shiny! From the left, (blue glitter) 1. Mermaid. 2. Treasure Chest. 3.Caspian. 4. Mediterranean. 5.Arabian. 6 Pacific. Clever naming Barry M, clever naming!
The only correct shade in the stand is Beautiful on the left.
So there we have it, LOTS of new things. What catches your eye? Let me know in the comments!
Slowly the spring 2014 collections of polishes are creeping their way into stores. Here are some I Spotted this week.
First up, the hotly anticipated Barry M Silks. This was Superdrug, in Boots, the stand had been stripped bare!
Then the new Spring 2014 Lancome Collection – lots of pinks, gray. nude colours here.
Finally, new Seventeen polishes. These ones are similar in style to the recent Maybelline Color Show Street Artist polishes. I had to buy them both, especially with that offer on! Swatches very soon!
I have also seen the new Spring mini collection by Chanel, with a new Vernis, Coup de Coeur from the Collection Variation. There are great swatches and comparisons on Beauty Look Book but I was unable to snag a picture for you this time
So there we go! Let me know what you see out and about, anything above catch your eye??
Guess what I have for you today?? More TEXTURE polish, I know, I know, I really cannot help myself I just love them so much… anyway, to save me raving nonsensically, here are the pictures
Wow, as you can see from the images, Countess is a stunningly autumn appropriate brown. Barry M have knocked this trend out of the park with this most recent release. There are five polishes in this Royal Texture collection and this is the darkest one. I don’t understand why they have names and the names are not used on the website – weird. Countess would therefore be tnp7 – awesome and is apparently purple. Its not really very purple but there is a tone in there…
Anyway, Barry M polishes all come with a standard brush fixed into the cylindrical lid. The texture polishes have a different finish type of the lid so that they stand out. Formula was good. Two coats over a base of Glisten and Glow Stuck on Blu! No top coat.
What do you think? Did you snag any of the Royal Texture collection? Let me know in the comments
Lots of new things for you all today! First up, I headed straight to the Revlon stand to see if the new Chalkboard nails were out – they are. Man they are cute, what with the double ended bottles, the glass being slightly frosted and just generally being Revlon. As we saw in this post, these are also available online in Boots.com for £7.99
Also new to the shelves is the just released Gothic Glam by Collection. Great shades for halloween and vampy nails!
New winter 2013 Dior Rouges, four lovely shades of amazing reds. Something for everyone here! The whole range can be seen here on the Selfridges site.
This is my favourite! Nuit 1947 – simply stunning
Then, yet more excitement in the Superdrug Nicole by OPI stand. GUMDROPS!! Well almost… seems the stand has been prepped but no actual stock in my Superdrug. Can’t wait for these, really want My Cherry Amour!
L’Oreal Nails A Porter are now out. These are meant to be flexible false nails so they last longer. Some cute designs, but I don’t think I will be buying.
So there we go, lots of new things to get checking out. Anything catch your eye?
First up, there has been a real increase in the number of stores providing nail art ‘stuff’ from gems to pens to files, seems everyone is getting into the act. I saw these little heart shaped jars of nail gems in Wilkinsons today – RRP is £1. My real reason for going in was to see if there was the forthcoming Essence stand – for more on that see this post on Make Up Savvy. There wasn’t 😦
Moving swiftly on, I popped into Superdrug to pick up a few bits and saw this little lovelies. Rimmel Space Dust. This is their take on the textured trend, there seem to be five in the collection. I picked up 004 Total Eclipse, the blackened green you can see on the right. Good price point too at £3.99.
Moving along the cosmetic bays, hoping for those new Color Show Brocade polishes, I notice this new insert into the Maybelline Color Show stand. Not sure if these are new shades, but Ice Queen, Plum Paradise, Green with Envy and Tutti Frutti look new to me. Check out Tutti Fruitti in the next picture!
Super sparkly, this Tutti Fruitti, looks quite sheer in the bottle ( the runner on the stand does say transparent gel-based formula if I recall correctly that is the whole range…), but I didn’t pick it up, so keep your eye out for swatches.
Finally, our local Superdrug has the new Barry M mattes and textures. This does make me happy *sigh* new nail paints in Mushroom and a couple of other colours too, RRP £2.99 and the new Matte and Textures RRP at £3.99.
I also saw some of the new Bourjois One Seconde shades in the stand but was unable to get a picture as it was surrounded. There are several new shades coming, the collection is called Gold is Back and is numbered 29 to 33. Not yet on the UK site, but images are on the French site. I picked up Dangerous Wish (number 31), swatches to come and that set me back £5.99, but it is stunning!
That’s all for this for now, do let me know if you see something new, feel free to tweet me a pic @BakingNails or drop me a comment. I’d love to hear what you have been picking up.
