Colors by Llarowe – Black Gold Texas Tea

Another fabulous Colors By Llarowe to share with you today.  This on is Black Gold Texas Tea – a fabulous linear black holo polish.  Lets hit the pictures!

Wow, I just love this.  Its a super linear holo, really holographic effect.  I could have even gotten away with one coat it was almost an amazing one coat wonder.  Not quite – because I chose to use two coats to ensure good even coverage.  I did a base of G&G Stuck on Blu! and then topped with a coat of G&G HK Girl.  HK Girl is great over holos, there is no dulling of the effect or colour and so its just perfect for making your holo polishes last longer.

Essence – Laser Show

Hello! I’m back did you miss me?!?  Hollidaybobs was ace, we had a lovely time.  Hard to believe we are back.  Anyway you have to come back to go away again, so there you go.

I have a bit of an odd duck for you today, I probably should have worn this as a top coat of some kind.  As it does look odd and made my fingers look weird.  This is Laser Show from Essence.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As you can see, its a pearlised based with black glitter.  Its like a Dalmation in a bottle really.  And it looks crazy on its own on the nail.  I probably should have layered over a nude or a red, something to really show off the sheen and then pick up the glitter.  I think on its own, the eye is drawn to the black glitter.  Formula was fine, it was a tad runny and so care was needed not to flood cuticles or load too much onto the nail the glitter starts to slide off in one direction.

Essence is slowly creeping across the UK, not quick enough for my liking.  You can follow the Facebook page for updates and information on additional stockists.

So, let me know what colour you think I should have layered this over, love to hear your comments!

Maybelline Color Show Street Artist – Wild at Heart

So I mentioned last week that I put glitter over my Flormar mani… so this is it. The red from the US release of Maybelline Color Show Street Artist collection.  I got it off eBay and I am very happy I did.  Let’s go straight to the photos

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Now this is what I call a combination…. white, red with a smattering of black.  I think it looks awesome over the white.  Plus, with a matte top coat, BOOM!  Stunning.  This new Sally Hansen Big Matte Top coat is fabulous, its really good.  And its rather protective of the polish beneath as well.  None of this chipping off after 4 hours.

Anyway, Wild at Heart is just like the UK releases of the Street Art Collection, but this one is a bright red.  Glitter ratio is great, not too much clear base not too much glitter to make it unworkable.  Drying time is average.   I didn’t top coat this and then put the matte top on.  My base was Nailtiques 2 and a thin layer of G&G Stuck on Blu!

I want to try this over pink or purple, what else should I try?

Colors By Llarowe – Beat It

I was a bit naughty during the recent Colors by Llarowe restock over on Llarowe.  It was my first time using the new queuing system, which seems to work quite well.  You visit the site during an advertised restock and it holds place for you in the queue depending on when you arrived at the site (kind of a first come first served system).  Its good because you get a place and no frantic clicking and purchasing under pressure.  But you have no idea how long you will be waiting so tricky if you stay up for a late restock.

Anyway, I picked up just the two, this is the first one I am sharing with you and is the lovely holographic Beat It! from the Michael Jackson collection.

Gosh, isn’t this pretty stunning? Formula is amazing, I could have gotten away with one coat but in the end I went for two to ensure even coverage.  Drying time is fast, I was very impressed.  I based with G&G Stuck on Blu! and then top coated with G&G HK Girl which really doesn’t dull holos in anyway.  Wear on this was just fantastic, two whole days and not even a chip!  Really love this.

New Things I Have Spotted #80 – GOSH Frosted Finish, Revlon Graffiti Shades, updated Barry M stands

A few more things out on shelves now! First up new shades in the GOSH Frosted Sand Look.  A salmon pink, a darker pink and a brown, all imaged below.20140323-163318.jpg

Sneak preview of the new pastel shades of texture from GOSH too.

New Revlon toppers in Black and Red, similar to many available in the US market but a bit unique to the UK.

And then, I’ve seen this a couple of times now, an update to the Barry M stands explaining how to ‘use’ the Aquarium shades.

So another quick run through for you all there, anything catch your eye?

Maybelline Color Show Crystallize – Nearly Black

20140313-172657.jpg

I have the third of the new Maybelline Color Show Crystallize polishes to share with you today.  This one really reminded me of a textured Black Knight by ButterLONDON.  This one is Nearly Black

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As with the other two shades, no top coat is required as the polish dried to a slightly matted and textured finish.  What you see above is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 (yes peeling winter nails) and a thin coat of G&G Stuck on Blu!

Drying time was good, but it did take quite a while for the texture to be completely solid.  At least 30 mins and I did actually catch this one once or twice!  It is a dead on dupe for P2 Classy, it is black with hints of pink and blue.  I’ve seen the Cystallize stand a couple of times now, and this one and Red Excess seem to be the ones catching people’s eye.

Have you picked up any of these yet?  Which ones did you get?

Elevation Polish – Quartz Monzonite

Quick post today -where are the weeks going???  Another Elevation Polish beauty for you today.  This is Quartz Monzonite, a glitter top coat.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

On the Elevation Shop, its described as a Glitter topper featuring Black, Grey, Wine colored hexes, squares & Circles with sparse neon yellow micro hexes and red shimmer all in a clear base.  Can’t argue with that, I think that is spot on. And who doesn’t love circle glitter!  It is from the ‘Stones Throw’ collection (from which I wish I had also bought Limestone!).  Love this, I do need to try it with some other colours as undies – this one is Wet N Wild Megalast in On a Trip, a vibrant purple.

There are several places you can find out more about Elevation polish, first up the blog here and then the actual store (with international shipping).  Polishes do very in price depending on the finish, but usually they are around $8.50, glitter toppers are sometimes more.  Elevation restocks on set dates, more info on the blog and its clear which colours are going to be available or retired.  The website also lists some of the other stockists that sell Elevation.

What do you think?  Let me know in the comments and I’d love to hear your suggestions of undies!

Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots – Dotty

Still working through the US Haul, congrats for making it this far with me.  This is one polish I squealed out loud when I grabbed it off the shelf into the hot waiting hands….. this is one of the Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots collection, but its one we didn’t get in the UK – this is the orange one, called Dotty.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Gosh I just love this, I love the jelly look and I love the build up of the glitter and I love the fact its not opaque (even though I usually had VNL).  What you see above is two coats, over a G&G Stuck on Blu! base coat and topped with a layer of G&G HK Girl.

Dotty is an orange jelly with black and white glitter suspended within it.  The glitter is of varying sizes.  Formula is a bit gloopy but its to be expected with that much glitter in it.  A bit of splodging was required on the first coat but once that is one, the second goes on like a dream.

Ah so nice, in the UK we got four shades of the Polka Dots, sadly all now limited edition and I’ve not seen a bottle in months on the shleves.  But in the US all five of their range seem to be part of the permanent line – meaning you could probably pick the US versions via eBay.

What is your favourite polka polish?  Let me know in the comments.

Maybelline Color Show Street Artist Collection

Gosh, amazing what a few RT’s and a share on Facebook will do for traffic to your website.  Hello to all the new readers stopping by to have a look at this new collection from Maybelline in the UK.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

So as we know from Sunday’s quick Spotted! post, I surprisingly ran into the new Maybelline Color Show Street Artist Top Coat collection in my local gigantic Boots.  I did what any self respecting nail lover would do and bought all four.  Then tweeted about it.

Oh and some of these are super cute!

IMG_4726

01 Boom Box Black – a mix of neon green and black glitter in different shapes and sizes, there are also very small pieces of bar glitter in here and the occasional larger pieces (limited edition)

02 White Splatter – a mix of white, green, purple and green glitter with white bar glitter pieces.  The white glitter is in a number of different sizes, the green and blue in the small size and the purple and white is in the small size and the worlds teenist sized glitter.

03 Urban Vibe – a mix of neon orange and black glitter shapes in different shapes and sizes.  There are small bits of orange bar glitter (limited edition)

04 Alley Attitude – a mix of neon blue and black glitter shapes in different shapes and sizes.  There are small bits of blue bar glitter.

Formula was pretty good, what you see above is one good coat per nail and then a bit of infilling around the edges.  All sized pieces seem to come out well although there aren’t loads of bigger pieces in mine.

Dupes?  I think we’ve seen these somewhere before… such as Formula X for Sephora Bombshell I posted last week.  Alley Attitude has the look of Turbulent, Boom Box Black the look of Bionic and the only one without a good match is White Splatter, but the colour way is similar to Demolition.  Anyway, that only helps you if you are in the US.

So what do you think?  RRP is £3.99, and Maybelline is readily available in many stores, including Boots and Superdrug.  Which one do you have your eye on?  Let me know in the comments!

New Things I have Spotted #69 – Maybelline Color Show Street Artist Top Coats & Seventeen Gel Polish

Quick Sunday update for you…. I have literally just seen these in my local large Boots store.  These are the new Maybelline Color Show Street Artists.  These are a series of four top coats.  Interestingly, only two of these have ‘Limited Edition’ next to them so they may become part of the permanent line.

IMG_4726

So, from the left – 03 Urban Vibe, 04 AlleyAttitude, 01 Boom Box Black & 02 White Splatter.  I’m not sure if the creme ‘Coral Craze’ is new or not, but it is in the stand.  RRP for the Street Artist is £3.99.

Interesting, the colours released in the US are not a cool as ours.  They have five, in red, dark blue, light blue, pink and light green similar to 01 Boom Box Black.  More images and links on Nouveau Cheap and on the US Maybelline site.  Nothing on the Maybelline UK website yet.

I’ve bought all four, so swatches soon and they are on offer in Boots with a buy one get one half price..  Also, in the updated stands, slots and inserts for the (presumably forthcoming) Seventeen Gel Nail Polish.  I’ll keep my eyes peeled for when they hit stores.
