Wet N Wild Megalast – Sky Me Mine

OOohhhhh for those of you that have been around these parts for a long time, then you know that this girl loves some Wet N Wild Megalast polishes. Like in a bad bad way. I first got my hands on the new-er style bottles through swapping, back when getting polish in the mail was OK. But we know it not and we never post it internationally.

So imagine my delight, whilst in the US to come across some of the new Megalast releases!  This is from the California Dreaming collection, seen here on Nouveau Cheap. I also grabbed one of the new silver bottle top coats – which we are using below.

Look at that blue!  Its so bright.  And lovely. And not a dark vibrant blue!  I love this, such a wearable summer colour!

One of the best things about the Megalast polishes are the brushes, which are similar to the Dior brush in that they are tapered and allow you to get really close to the cuticle without touching it.  They are flat and rounded.  Love them.  I think you also get them in the newer Sally Hansen CSM range (can anyone confrim??).  You can see some brush pics on this blog post by A Girl, Obsessed from 2012.

Anyway, formula was OK, two coats provides opacity.  The top coat however BLEW MY SOCKS OFF!  I love this.  Quick drying, albeit a bit stinky, its my second current fave after my Nails Inc Kensington Top Coat.  Its a steal for whatever I paid for it (probably $3 plus tax)

Lancôme – Nuit D’Azur

Wow, I am a sucker for bright blue cremes at the moment – there is something about them that makes my heart sing.  I picked this up, sneakily when the hubster was about and he didn’t notice!  But as soon I as saw this, I just had to have it.  Its part of the French Riviera collections recently released by Lancome for Summer 2014. Lets check out some pictures!

Check out that beauty!  How nice is this??  Its is the perfect blue.  Two coats of blue perfection – and no staining on the nails either!  This is two coats over a base of Essence Anti Nail Split Sealer topped with a coat of G&G HK Girl to bring that glossy top to the colour pop.  And POP it does.

Lancome is readily available in large department stores and other large chemists.  RRP for the Vernis in Love shades is about the £13 mark.  So cheaper than Chanel but remember the bottles are smaller.  I don’t that matters excessively, but if you have a thing about smaller bottles (in a good or bad way) its worth knowing up front.

I’m so glad I picked this up – what other blues are in your ‘love pile’ let me know in the comments!

Maybelline Color Show Acid Wash (European Edition) – Bleached Blue

I’m so excited to share this polish with you – sent to me by the lovely lovely Lindz who saw my post about the European Edition Maybelline Color Show Acid Wash (you can see it here) and then made it her mission to find me one.  She is a star and I am very grateful to her.

Now I just LOVE this, but then I am quite a fan of the Acid Wash polishes, but I know not all of you are fans.  I am sightly obsessed with bright blue polishes and this one just ticks my boxes in all the right ways.  As you can see, this is a bright blue with the white glitters from the UK editions of the Acid Wash polishes.  They have big white matte glitters through to small white glitters.  From what I can tell they are all matte.

Formula is good, which is surprisingly considering the amount of glitter that comes out on the brush.  This is two coats over a base of Essence Anti Nail Peeler (seems to be working) and topped off with a coat of G&G HK Girl.  The glitter placement is good, although I did end up with one finger having five large pieces of white glitter on – more than any one nail needs – but other than that, I felt it was a good mix of sizes. The top coat does help level off the glitter so if you have a little bit sticking up it does really help.

It wore like IRON – I had it one for nearly three days (because I LOVE it) before I started to note tipwear.  If you want to see the other Maybelline Acid Wash polishes, you can do so on these posts here (top splatter, ripped tide, lilac rebel & mint-acid-ittude)

I do think Maybelline has been knocking great polishes out of the part, I would imagine we might see these in different colour ways in the autumn and winter collections.  They seem to be bang on the money when it comes to glitter collections.
