Models Own – Chrome Blue

I have been a bit remiss, sorry all.  I meant to share all the Models Own Colour Chrome collections close together and I’ve been swayed by other pretties.  I promise to try harder…. so with that in mind, here is number six – Chrome Blue

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Yep, that is blue alright.  A good blue.  A true blue.  Not denim leaning.  Two easy coats over a base of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Base coat.  As always, speed is an issue with a chrome polish.  Take too long or go over a partially dry area and dragging will occur.  I love how easy they are to remove and apply, meaning if you do change your polish frequently, then its not too time intensive.  I did get a good two solid days out of this before it chipped significantly.  I keep meaning to see what damage a top coat does, but I haven’t the heart to ruin a nice mani… I will try and report back however.

There are ten shades in the Colour Chrome Collection and we’ve already seen Gold,  Indigo, Mauve, Olive and Rose.  RRP is £4.99 if you pick them up in Superdrug (which is now a MOdels Own stockist) or order them online directly.

Models Own – Chrome Gold

Still going through these lovely Models Own Colour Chrome polishes, the whole collection of ten is really quite something.  This one is Chrome Gold, and to be honest, I only picked it up to make the sent complete – ever the polish hoarder!

Lets look at some pics

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As you can see, I really struggled to get a good picture of the gold. Its quite a pale shade, akin to straw, so its not fully blingy and in your face.

Formula was consistent with others in the range that we have seen in the last couple of weeks. This is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 with no top coat.

You can pick up these polishes from the  Models Own website or go directly to  the Colour Chrome Collection page.

Model Own – Chrome Cerise

We are still working our way though the Colour Chrome Collection from Models Own.  Its a series of 10 chrome shades and because there were on sale, I bought them all…. we’ve already seen Indigo, Mauve, Olive and Rose.  Lets go straight to the pictures

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Wow, this is what I call a POP of colour. This is by far one of the brights shades in the entire collection. its really shiny and its just the perfect Cerise colour, it does look like cooked cherries to me.

Again, the formula was good. Work quick, even if you only get on pass in one each nail and then go back to fill in the sides. You application will have less brushstrokes. I haven’t used a top coat here, and to be honest, I have tried a top coat on these. I do use a base coat, if nothing else it even out the nail bed as I have the odd ridge here and there. It does cling to your nails so if you have a ridge problem, you may want to apply this over a ridge smoothing base or even a clear polish layer first.

A note on the brush, its a wide flat brush, not unlike that we’ve seen in Dior polishes and I think its probably a bit similar to the new Barry M brush (I’ve not seen it or used it, so I can’t comment). Either way, I do find it quite easy to use. And on smaller fingers, its one swipe and you are done!

Let me know what you think in the comments, have you picked any of these up yet? How do you plan on wearing them?

P2 Sand Style – Dreamy

Ah, those of you that have been around these parts know that I love I good textured polish.  Even more than that, I adore a P2 Sand style polish!  Completely adore them.  This one is one of the newer ones and its called Dreamy.  Lets look at some pictures!

This is two coats over a base of Essence Anti Nail Split Sealer.  Its a lovely sea green, with a duochrome hint.  Formula was good, easy to work with and fast to dry.  Care is needed as you can ding it whilst its drying but once its dry its rock rock hard.

P2 is a German brand, you can visit the collection here. I am not sure if its available anywhere else, but I do love them so very much and I’m fortunate to have to buddy in Germany to keep me furnished with them!  (Thank you Lindz!)

KIKO Sun Show Nail Lacquer – Shade 473

Whoops, more found images on the camera…. I knew I was missing some.  Anyway, I have a shade form the Sun Shade Nail Lacquer collection from KIKO which I bought at Easter.  This is a stunning purple snappily named 473.

This is lovely, a lightly duochromed purple, ripples and blue moving to purple.  What you see above is three thin coats.  Base is G&G Stuck on Blu! and topped with a good coat of G&G HK Girl.  Formula was average, nothing special to note, but yummy yummy yummy on the nail.

Gosh I had really forgotten how pretty duochromes can be, this one is right up the KEEPER street.

I can no longer see these on the KIKO website so I am guessing they are more than likely sold out.  There were ten in the collection and you can see images of the collection on a previous spotted post here.

What are your favourite duochrome polishes?  Let me know your faves in the comments.

New Things I Have Spotted #77 – Color Show Crystallize, Rita Ora for Rimmel, Barry M Aquarium Nails & Revlon Rio Rush Spring/Summer ’14

Oh my goodness!  Color Show by Maybelline are at it again!  Another new range – this one appears to be texture polishes.  four shades in total as per all Ltd Ed Color Show releases in Europe.  One of them looks distinctly duochrome-ish, like a textured Downtown Brown….20140313-172657.jpg

From the left,  Nearly Black, Light Up, Red Excess & Rose Chic.  Here you can see what the US might be getting, this includes on that looks very much like Rimmel Space Dust Total Eclipse (a green/blue duochrome)20140313-172703.jpg

Then LOTS of Rita Ora for Rimmel all over the place… stand after stand after stand…

After stand….

After stand….so many shades I can’t be bothered to name them all.  Plus there is NOTHING on the Rimmel website which I think is a bit poor for a HUGE release like this.

Also new on shelves, Barry M Aquarium Nails.  Each ‘set’ is three polishes, two duochromes (a bit like Sally Hansen Lustre Shine polishes ) and one glitter.  Shades are a blue set or a red set.

As you can see, shiny!  From the left, (blue glitter) 1. Mermaid. 2. Treasure Chest. 3.Caspian. 4. Mediterranean. 5.Arabian. 6 Pacific.  Clever naming Barry M, clever naming!

Finally for todays Spotted!  The new Rio Rush Revlon Spring/Summer ’14 insert.  The wrong polishes are in it, but the first one is correct…20140313-172743.jpg

The only correct shade in the stand is Beautiful on the left.

So there we have it, LOTS of new things.  What catches your eye?  Let me know in the comments!

Sinful Colors Sinful Shine – Patent Pleasure

This is another polish from the few that my lovely sister picked me up on her recent trip to the US.  Here in the UK, we’ve been super excited to finally get Sinful Colors instore at Boots – after years of lusting after them on US nail blogs.  We have a huge range in the UK, but from what I can tell, we don’t seem to be getting the limited edition runs that you see in the US.  This is from a new range within the Sinful Colors brand, Sinful Colors Sinful Shine.

Now, you know I love my oranges and this one is a STUNNER.  I give you Patent Pleasure

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Patent Pleasure is tangerine orange, with a slight duochrome of a green shade within it.  Formula was lovely, fluid and easy to control.  What you see above it three coats simply to ensure no VNL.  Wow, love this.  It does dry super shiny, as its advertised as having a a gel like finish.  It does dry to a super shiny finish.  However, as I knew I was going to have to wear this for several days as I was out and about, I did go over it with a coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl (UK link here) and it wore exceptionally well.

I love colours like this, my all time fave colour with a bit of a twist.

What do you think?  Do you have anything like this in your stash?

OPI – Peace & Love & OPI

OPI has released a collection based on the city of San Francisco for Fall 2013.  Its a huge collection, with 12 polishes and 3 liquid sands.  I have a couple of show you, so this is the first one – Love & Peace & OPI.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is a duochrome polish that flashes pink, purple and silver.  Not an unusual combination or colour, as I have seen similar ones in the past, but what makes this stand out is the colour combined with the formula.  Its lovely.  OPI bottles are quite big, 15ml of product, in a heavy glass bottle with black cap.  The brush to good, firm but not stiff and easy to use with the formula.  I based with Essence Studio Nails Better Than Gel Nails and used their Gel Shine top coat – lovely.  Gave it good shine and durability.

If you follow lots of nail blogs, you may have already seen that this one is meant to be a dupe for the new Essie For the Twill of it.  I don’t have the Essie, but it was on my wish list.  I got this little gem from Nail Polish Direct – they have a great price point and excellent fast shipping.  It was my first time purchasing from them and I’ve been delighted with the service.

Did you pick up anything from the SF Collection?  Let me know in the comments.

Second Chance Saturday – Chanel Black Pearl

Alrighty, surprise!  Another Second Chance Saturday for your viewing pleasure.  This little love is Black Pearl, part of the Spring 2011 release and its sister polishes are Pearl Drop and Pêche Nacrée.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I picked this one up when we went to a wedding in Toronto and I was so pleased to be able to get this early in the season.  I nearly didn’t, as several of the concessions we visited were already sold out.  But thankfully I struck gold, or black pearl in this case, at the Eaton Centre.

As you can see from the images, it does go a little streaky, but it is the most unusual of colours.  Its a blackened teal, kinda of like the edges of a healing bruise (pleasant I know) but I have nothing else like it. For these pics, its based with G & G Stuck on Blu! and topped with Dior Gel Coat.

Formula is good, coverage is excellent, if it was just that *little* less streaky, it would be perfect.

What do you think?  Does this have a home in your stash?

Hard Candy – Pee Wee Purple

A dear polish friend of mine in the US recently sent me a lovely box of goodies, which had the excellent timing of arriving on my birthday.  In that box was a whole heap of glittery goodies, including a couple of the new Hard Candy US polishes that I have been coveting on some US Nail Blogs… there were four collections that came out pretty much at the same time.  Today, I have one of the Itzy Glitz polishes to show you

This, my friends, is Pee Wee Purple

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Now the first thing you will probably notice is that its quite a tall slim bottle.  It holds 7.8ml and the brush reaches quite far down into the bottom.  Therein lies a potential problem, I almost knocked it over twice whilst painting my nails.  Its not quite a precarious as a Julep bottle but its pretty damn close.

Anyway, the colour of this polish is spectacular, no amount of image manipulation is going to show how intense the purple is.  There is a bit of a duochrome effect, its very rich purple with a brown hint to it.  Its not like one of their earlier releases, Beetle for those of you with long polish memories.  Formula is a bit thin, but it does appear to dry quite quickly and go a bit gunky around the rim of the bottle.  What you see above it two thick-ish coats.  I used G & G Stuck on Blu! as a base coat and G & G HK Girl as my top coat.

Wear was pretty poor on this one, I had a chip within a couple of hours.  I’ve never really experienced chipping with G & G HK Girl top coat.  The colour is unique enough to my stash that I will try using it again with a different topper – but its close to one of the Bieber Nicole by OPI from what I can recall.

What do you guys think?  Yay or Nay?
