Nanacoco – Shu Cream

I came back from the US a couple of weeks ago, seems like much longer now, but whilst I was there I was able to do a great swap with the absolutely lovely G of Nouveau Cheap, yes Queen of Affordable Cometics.  I was able to bring stuff with me to the US to ship to G and she sent me the most amazing package filled with brands that were new to me.  Amongst the goodies were some milky glitters from Nanacoco – a brand I had never registered before.

This is the first one I have to share with you and is called Shu Cream.

Shu Cream has am mikly cream base, packed with glitter that is white, orange and bronze, with the tiniest turquoise glitters. The website states it is in the gold family.  It really dinged my bells.  Now a quick word about the smell…. if you know or have tried Kleencolor then you will know what I mean about the smell.  It is quite chemically and rather strong.  So a ventilated area is a must.  And if you are sensitive to smells, you will want to avoid this as it does linger.

Anyway, i also paired this with something I have been DYING to try – which is the new peel off base coat from Sally Hansen.  Now I have tried a couple before and its always been a bit hit and miss.  So I did two thin coats of the SH Big Peel Off Base coat before applying two thickish coats of Shu Cream.  First coat was a drop and spread as it felt a bit gloopy, but that might have been because the peel off base coat once clear is a bit tacky.  Second coat was a bit thicker to capture lots of that lovely glitter!

Gosh, I love this.  Its almost work appropriate glitter isn’t it??  I topped with a layer of Nails Inc Kensington Top Coat to seal it all in and that also helped to reduce the smell.  As for that SH Big Peel Off Base Coat?  Man that is a WINNER.  The polish lasted two showers, numerous hand washing before I chose to peel it off.  And it was satisfying to peel off.  It came off in big pieces and left no residue behind.  I was super impressed.

Huge thanks to G for the swap, more swap lovelies to come over the next few posts!

Sally Hansen – Chilli Flakes

Another one of my slightly naughty eBay purchase to share here.  I’d been eying this up on lot of US blogs, and I do love a shard glitter.  This is called Chilli Flakes and was part of the limited edition release of Complete Salon Manicure.  Its made up of lots of shards in red, pink, gold and some silver in a clear base.

What you see here is one or two coats of the shard glitter over a base of Maybelline Color Show Greyze in Love, a fab slate grey which I think really helps make the colours of the shard pop.  The shards are red, pink, orange and pink… varying sizes and they do behave themselves and lie flat.  The effect does remind me of my beloved Revlon Moon candy polishes.

Love it love it love it!  Anyway, I think that Models Own have some glitter toppers that have shard like pieces in if you fancy something similar… let me know what you think and what you might have in your stash that is similar.

Models Own – Chrome Gold

Still going through these lovely Models Own Colour Chrome polishes, the whole collection of ten is really quite something.  This one is Chrome Gold, and to be honest, I only picked it up to make the sent complete – ever the polish hoarder!

Lets look at some pics

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As you can see, I really struggled to get a good picture of the gold. Its quite a pale shade, akin to straw, so its not fully blingy and in your face.

Formula was consistent with others in the range that we have seen in the last couple of weeks. This is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 with no top coat.

You can pick up these polishes from the  Models Own website or go directly to  the Colour Chrome Collection page.

Catrice – Golden Plum-e

I have another of the handful of polishes I picked up in Vienna to show you today, this one is part of the Catrice Feathered Fall edition for September to November 2014.  It is packed full of sparkle and metallic shades, but this was the only polish shade that spoke to me.  This is Golden Plum-e, a nice little play on words there for you…..

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

What you see above is two average coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 topped with G&G HK Girl.  As you can see, its a plum base colour with a golden shimmer.  It goes on well in two coats, delivery opacity and I have to admit when I started to put it on, I didn’t think it would be!

Anyway, it is cute and super autumn (fall) appropriate and I can see this getting a fair bit of wear from me over the next few weeks.  I also picked up one of the eye shadows but I have yet to try it out (let me know if you want a review of that too)

Catrice isn’t available to us in the UK yet, but if you are in mainland Europe, you can find it by looking at our local retailers on the website.  I think I paid between €2 & €3, but I can’t recall.  Either way, its a good deal!

Spotted! New Seventeen glitter toppers

Hot on the heels of the new Barry M and Rimmel glitters we have seen in the last couple of weeks, Seventeen have updated their stands with new glitters and toppers.  Lets check out the pictures….IMG_6565.JPG

As you can see, Limited Edition Sequin Top Coats and Glitters….

Along with Nail Tinsels…..

Too much glitter? Or not enough?  Seems everyone is off doing glitter bomb top coats again for the party season!  Did you pick any of these up? They don’t appear to be on the Seventeen website at time of writing, but I’m sure they will be there soon as the Christmas gifts are listed.

Manhattan – Amazing Anniversary

This is the final of the Manhattan shades I have to share with – lets hope I get to go back to Austria or Germany to get some more!  This one is called Amazing Anniversary and is a lovely navy shade with black glitter and golden shimmer particles. Lets get onto some pictures.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped with G&G HK Girl.  Formula was good and two coats provides a good amount of coverage.  The glitter doesn’t stick up and sits on the nail well.  The glitter really catches the light and provides a bit of interest.  I’m quite fond of this, again nothing quite like it in the stash.

I love the idea of a main stream company working with their fans to create shades and I know that other brands have done it.  be good to see more of this in the UK.

Manhattan- Green & Bronx

I have mentioned I was away last week and as usual I was fortunate to have some time to pop into local drug stores and check out all the polishes.  There were a lot of polishes…. a lot, but I was very good.  I was quite drawn to this range by Manhattan which is called Bloggers Choice – a range of polishes designed with bloggers.  Great idea, the range was excellent and had something for everyone.  This on really caught my eye and is called Green & Bronx.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Green & Bronx is quite an unusual colour (I seem to be saying that a lot recently…) its an brown olive green with gold and copper micro glitter in.  Now on the nail there isn’t tonnes of glitter that comes out, but you know what, that is the best thing about it.

This is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped off with G&G HK Girl.  Wear was excellent, three days before a chip showed as I was too busy to change my polish.  The glitter is all the same size too and being that bit smaller means to gets onto your nails and doesn’t stick up and get all clumpy.  Does remind me of many polishes before we all went glitter crazy!

Anyway, I do like this and I’m excited to try the other Manhattan polishes I picked up, so keep popping by for those.  I have seen some of these in the pound shop – the bottle is quite distinctive – and I will admit that I have looked over these as it wasn’t a brand I was familiar with.  I shall rectify that next time I am in a poundshop let me assure you! (having gone through the Manhattan website I am of the opinion that it is basically Rimmel but with some differences, they have the new Argon Oil mascara and something very similar to the Apocolips)

Spotted! New Rimmel glitter topper polishes

I caught a glimpse today of the new polishes by Rimmel, some of which look very Christma-sey. These are the Glitter Bomb top coats and they come in five colour ways – gold, silver, pink, blue and red.

IMG_6461Here you can see the image inserts for them, they look very glitzy in the images.

IMG_6457This shows them alongside the new Velvet Matte polishes which came out in September.

IMG_6458This one is very Christmas….

IMG_6459And finally, an addition to the Rita Ora line, a pop art top coat. I’ve not noticed this before so I’m not 100% sure its new.

IMG_6460Anything catch your eye this time around?  If so, or if you’ve seen anything new, do let me know in the comments!

Revlon Parfumerie – Italian Leather

I have another of those lovely Poundworld bargains for you today – this is another of the Revlon Parfumerie range, so not only do you get a gorgeous colour and a lovely bottle, there is a fab scent to the polish once it is dry.  This one is Italian Leather, one of the ones I had my eye on for a long long time!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is a lovely shade, slightly unusual and therefore hard to describe.  Buts is a golden brown, with hints of green and black.  It really is multidimensional colour.  Formula is good, this is two medium coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped with G&G HK Girl to lock in the shine.  Scent is a bit weird, but in a good way, I don’t find the scents too strong but I know some people find them overpowering.  A top coat does take the edge off but you can still smell it.

I love shades like this, hard to describe and lovely for autumn.  I;ve not been to a Poundworld in a couple of weeks so there may be new things to see.  So go go go!

P2 Summer Attack – Green Palm Tree

I have another lovely polish that the fabulous Lindz sent me over from Europe.  I can’t get P2 in the UK so it was a HUGE delight to get this in my recent nail care package.  This is from the Summer 2014 range, cleverly called Summer Attack! And I love the promo image above – fab and summer perfect!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is called Green Palm Tree, a lovely shimmer gold flecked polish.  The green is just perfect for summer.  What you see above is three thin coats over a base of Essence Anti Split Nail Sealer.  I topped with G&G HK Girl which helps seal in the shine.  Formula is good, thin coats meant it dried quickly and three coats hardly took any longer than two average coats.

As I say, P2 isn’t available in the UK, you may find some on eBay or if like me, you might be lucky enough to have a nail polish buddy in Europe.  I do love this and I get see it getting a lot of love on my nails.
