Nella Milano – Mercury Haze

We are flying through these Nella Milano shades like they are going out of fashion!  I have to say that generally I have really pleased with the quality and the range of the creme shades they have produced.  Even those shades I wouldn’t have naturally picked out for myself, I’ve been enjoying the range of colours as they’ve graced my finger tips.  And I have worn each and every one of them for a least a day – so I know that the wear time, with proper nail prep, is excellent.

Anyway, onto one of my favourite shades from the set of Nella polishes I have, this is Mercury Haze, a stunning dark grey creme made for the autumn season!  Lets check out some pics!

This is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 and sealed in with Essie Gel Setting Top Coat (its part of Essie’s Gel polish range, but in my experience it works like a charm over most other brands too!) which I picked up in the US and I shall definitely be getting another bottle next time I am in the US.  The formula is creamy and easy to work with, two coats provides excellent even coverage and the colour is just so perfect for autumn.

On the website you can search by collection, there are eight sets and one set of top and base coat www.nellamilano.com.  You can also visit the brand on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest or Facebook to keep up to date with releases and current shades.  The price point is £8.95.  But this week, Mercury Haze should be on offer for £4.95, so if you like the look of this, this is the week to take the plunge and buy!

Maybelline Color Show Suit Style – Suit & Sensibility

So as you might have gathered, I got rather excited at the sight of new Maybelline Color Show polishes. I’ve done a bit of internet digging and (as usual) German blogs seem to be a bit ahead of the curve – although this post on Angelica’s Nails clearly shows all four bottles with the Suit Style Collection logo on them.  Anyhow, lets check out some pics!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As you can clearly see this is a gunmetal colour – and its textured!  Yes, Maybelline are still bringing out textured shades.  Now a word on that, the texture here is quite rough and more so that other previous Maybelline textured polishes.  It is a bit of a shock when its been a while since you’ve worn one and I did manage to snag my nails on a knitted top – so beware!

Formula is quite thick, but speed and care is needed to get this onto the nail as it does dry quite fast.  If you take you time, you either end up with one part of the nail clearly having a thicker application or you pull off some of the drying polish.  What you see above is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 and no top coat.  Drying time was quick as I mentioned.

Having seen those German blogs, Business Blouse (what a ridiculous name!) actually looks pretty cool – so I may have to pick that one up too…. damn you Maybelline!!!

Have you seen these about and have any caught your eye?  Let me know in the comments!

Nella Milano – Grey Goose

Its Nella Milano time again.  This one is another lovely pale, work appropriate shade, called Grey Goose.  This is from the Misty Morning collection.  Lets check out the pictures!

Formula for this one was excellent, it glided onto the nail.  Drying time was also excellent, although it was quite warm when I applied this.  What you see above is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 topped off with Nails Inc Kensington Top Coat (which I am running low on……)  This is a great neutral shade without being based on skintone and would work as a great base for some stamping.  I didn’t get a chance to stamp over this for a number of reasons, but next time I definitely will!

On the website you can search by collection, there are eight sets and one set of top and base coat www.nellamilano.com.  You can also visit the brand on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest or Facebook to keep up to date with releases and current shades.  The price point is £8.95.  But this week, Grey Gooseshould be on offer for £4.95, so if you like the look of this, this is the week to take the plunge and buy!

Maybelline Color Show – Greyze In Love

Today I have another of the Fashion Rocks 2014 collection by Maybelline Color Show.  This was a US release that came out in August.  You may have noticed a theme in the naming, the first one we saw was called Plum As You Are, and this one is Greyze In Love…..

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Gosh I love this – quite a lot.  Formula was excellent, this is two thin coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped with Essence Better Than Gel Nails top coat.  Its dark and its grey and its lovely.  Its a proper creme, no shimmer, no glitter but it dries super shiny even before I put the top coat on.

The Fashion Rocks collection was a US only release from what I can tell. You can see the collection on the lovely Nouveau Cheap.

Do you have anything similar in your stash?  Let me know in the comments.

Maybelline Color Show Vinyl – Grey Beats

You may recall my recent trip to Vienna.  There I was minding my own business in a drugstore, checking out the polishes and the shower gels (who doesn’t love a good shower gel!) and my eye kept being drawn back to the Maybelline Color Show Vinyl stands.  Now I couldn’t figure out why, but in three more stores, that happened.  And then it twigged.  There were four shades, but only three were the same as the UK release.  You can see what I mean here. In Europe, there was no pink, but there was this one.  Grey Beats!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Anyway, so I had to have it.  We’ve seen this with both the Vintage Leather, Crystallise and Acid Wash polishes where in Europe there is either more to the set, sometimes five or six colours, whilst in the UK we only have four.  Curious huh?  Its not the like the UK market is that odd is it?!?!

So, onto the polish.  This is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2.  Formula was OK, a little but draggy in places so care is needed.  But its quite the chalk grey isn’t it!  It is quite pale, but I was ready for a bit of a palette cleanser at this point, plus I think it might be a great base for some nail stamping in orange, black and darker silver…….

Not sure if you might be able to find this in the UK, perhaps eBay, but the four UK edition shades are available now in your usual Maybelline stockists.  Did you pick up any of the Vinyl collection?

Spotted – New L’Oreal Nail Polishes, GOSH, MUA and Essence in Wilkos

Despite it being the height of summer here in the UK sales market, I have noticed one or two new things popping onto shelves near you.  First up, I was drawn to the fact the L’Oreal have updated their nail sections in many Boots and Superdrug stores.  Some simple nail art inspiration here.

Then I noticed something I have seen no press for at all – new double ended L’Oreal Nail Polish.  There is a polish (step 1) followed by a tinted top coat (step 2).  Curious……. RRP is £7.99 so there are not cheap but I can’t find any further information on the internet either. UPDATE – British Beauty Blogger has more info HERE

After seeing a badly filled Shades of Grey stand, I finally see a filled one.  Lots of repromotes here and those new Stardust polishes.

MUA has released from new nail polish products – a super strong basecoat, a peel off base coat (interesting that it is clear and doesn’t look like PVA glue in a bottle) and the now ubiquitous matte top coat.

And for those of you that haven’t had enough of me banging on about Essence hitting the UK, this is the small updated stand in my local Wilkos (which is only a tiny branch so it only has the 1m line up)  Although small, there is quite a lot packed into this and the price points are excellent.

So there we go, a quick update of what is new out there.  If you Spot something, please let me know, either via Twitter or by email and I can share your findings far and wide!

Elevation Polish – Quartz Monzonite

Quick post today -where are the weeks going???  Another Elevation Polish beauty for you today.  This is Quartz Monzonite, a glitter top coat.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

On the Elevation Shop, its described as a Glitter topper featuring Black, Grey, Wine colored hexes, squares & Circles with sparse neon yellow micro hexes and red shimmer all in a clear base.  Can’t argue with that, I think that is spot on. And who doesn’t love circle glitter!  It is from the ‘Stones Throw’ collection (from which I wish I had also bought Limestone!).  Love this, I do need to try it with some other colours as undies – this one is Wet N Wild Megalast in On a Trip, a vibrant purple.

There are several places you can find out more about Elevation polish, first up the blog here and then the actual store (with international shipping).  Polishes do very in price depending on the finish, but usually they are around $8.50, glitter toppers are sometimes more.  Elevation restocks on set dates, more info on the blog and its clear which colours are going to be available or retired.  The website also lists some of the other stockists that sell Elevation.

What do you think?  Let me know in the comments and I’d love to hear your suggestions of undies!

Maybelline Color Show Vintage Leather – 212 Mudslide Tote

I’ve got the second of the three Maybelline Color Show Vintage Leather nail polishes to show to you today.  We’ve seen the first one, Turquoise Temptation, give me a few problems with applications.  I’m going to give that one another go soon.

Anyway, here come the pictures!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is Mudslide Tote.  It reminded me of very gray clay, a dark lovely muddy colour.  Which I know sounds weird.  But I love the colour on this one.  Its dark enough to be edge but not too dark to look black or just dirty.  The little flakies show up really well in this one.  It really does make it look like vintage leather.

The application on this was much better, it didn’t dry as quickly as the first one and I was able to get a better handle on application across all my nails.  What you see here is mostly two coats.  I did a third when I could see light streaking.  I’m quite taken with this one (can you tell??).  Really wish we had the range of ten that are currently out in the US.. see more on Nouveau Cheap.

You can pick up Maybelline in most drugstores and some larger supermarkets.  Of course, you can pick them up online too.  Retail is around the £3 mark but there are often 3 for 2 or 2 for £5 deals.

What do you think?  Have you bought any of the limited edition vintage leather polishes?

Scofflaw – Sturm Und Drang

I have no idea what is going on, but I’ve found a WHOLE LOAD of unpublished blog posts… I’ll be dripping them out over the summer for you all to see.  There are some beauties in here.

This is the second Scofflaw I picked up from Llarowe when I bought David Bowie’s Bulge that was WAY back in April… Anyway, onto the pictures!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As you can see from the images, Sturm Und Drang (German for ‘Storm and Stress’ according to Google..)  its a dark grey base packed with small glitter in pink and silver , accented with larger glitter pieces in a gold-green colour.  Unlike anything else I have in The Stash.

From what I can recall based on when I took the pictures and when I used the mani (it was the one after The Bulge), I can only assume that I did two coats over a layer of Essie Millionails and then top coated with Essence Studio Nails Better Than Gel Nails High Gloss Top Coat.

I do remember loving the formula, and two coats built up brilliantly.  However, one slight ‘niggle’ is that the gold-green pieces  didn’t come out as often as I would like.  Not sure if that just luck in this instance as I’ve only worn in once (unlike The Bulge that has been worn four or five) but now that I have rediscovered these images I shall be wheeling this out again asap.

There are several ways you can get your mitts on some of the Scofflaw lovelies… if you are in the US, you can check out the Esty Shop.  If you are international (outside of the US) you will need to stalk out Llarowe.  More information on future releases and sneak peeks can be found of the Facebook page or check out Pinterest.  I picked up mine from Llarowe, super speedy shipping but I did have to stalk the shop to get hold of this.

What do you think?  Do you own any Scofflaw lovelies?

China Glaze – Immortal

This is a polish I have worn a couple of times but neglected to take images.  So here, third time lucky, is China Glaze Immortal from the Halloween 2012 collection.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As you can see, this is a slate gray polish with hints of shimmer within.  There is a hint of pink and blue, its a super wearable colour and goes with most things.  Application was good, I used three thin coats to build up opacity.  I base coated with Seche Clear, top coating with Seche Vite to make it last longer.  Formula was good, not too runny and not too thick.  Drying time was quicker than average.

I love these gray polishes with shimmers, I have quite a few, I’m getting a bit obsessed.  I’m not sure if Immortal is still available, but you can pick up China Glaze polishes from eBay, Amazon and other online retailers.  Let me know your hot links if you find any!
