Chanel – Atmosphere

Image from Chanel.com

OK, OK – no judging.  I flew down south to visit the family and I HAD to pick with two of the A/W 2014 Chanel Collection Etats Poetiques.  There are three vernis shades in the collection.  Orage (navy with a shimmer), Secret (a pale nude) and then Atmosphere which I have to show you here.  Lets go straight to the pics!

What you see here is two coats of Orage followed by one thin coat of Atmosphere.  It really acts as a shade changer and iridescent topper.  It does bit up some of the underlying shade and as you can see above, it has a really really strong duochrome effect.  Although I only used on coat, it went on evenly and cleanly drying quite quickly before I topped with G&G HK Girl.

I think it would look stunning over red too, so will probably try that next time.

Has anything from Chanel A/W 2014 caught your eye?

Julep – O Canada!

Very quick post for you today.  This is O Canada! released by Julep last year, funnily enough to celebrate Canada Day.  Anyway, onto the pics…

This is a dollop and spread approach to application over two coats of Julep Salah, a perfect cherry red.  I love this, it sparkles and glistens.  You can’t really see the red glitter as its over red polish, but the iridescent pieces really pop and its all wrapped up in a clear base.  I think I will try this over black or burgundy.  Julep is sadly only available directly to US and Canadian ladies, this one is out of stock, but you might be able to score via a blog sale.

What do you think?  How would you rock this polish?

Julep – Ivy

Hello there, hope you are having an awesome week.  I have something for you today that was sent to be by a dear polish friend.  A complete surprise in my little package, but a very welcome one.  Its been a while since I had some Julep polishes on the blog, not because I have a lack of them, simply because I know they are not particularly easy to come by the UK even on eBay and I’m not aware of any Julep resellers.

Anywho, this little beauty is Ivy.  Ivy.  And no, she isn’t green.  Oh No, not at all.  In fact, she is lovely, iridescent and burple (that wonderful place between blue and purple).  Check out the pics…

This is three thin coats of Ivy, over a base of Essie Millionails and a top coat of Seche Vite.  The colour is just spectacular, blue pruple blue purple, and its really hard to capture in images. Its akin to exotic beetles.  Lovely.  Formula was a tad on the runny side and so three coats makes the colour build up well.  The duochrome effect is more pronounced in person, but its such a vivid colour and really unlike other things I have in my stash.  I have duochromes but not in the same colour vein.

Really unusual and I like it!  What do you think?
