Spotted! Maybelline 100 Years Collection Stands!

It would seem that our two mystery Maybelline Color Show polishes are part of a wider, limited edition range to celebrate 100 years of Maybelline.  Its a Superdrug Exclusive so get down there STAT if something catches your eye.  The stand has been infilled with non-limited edition items, just in case you were wondering.  Here come the close ups!

There we go, exciting huh?   This not the same as the US release of the 100 Years of Maybelline.  You can see all the gossip on that range over on Nouveau Cheap here.

This is exclusive to Superdrug.

Chanel – Intemporel

So there is a new Chanel collection out RIGHT NOW, in a limited number of stores and, of course, it is itself limited edition. L’Intemporel De Chanel can been seen on the US Chanel.com website here and consists of a gorgeous eye shadow palette, styled on the classic Chanel chain bag, along with a silver polish, again reflecting the chain of the classic bag.

Much as I love the shadows, and I was seriously thinking about purchasing them, I (typically) got all grabby hands about the polish.  I love a silver.  And I love Chanel.  It was a perfect match.  Lets look at the pics!

The polish is just the perfect shade of silver, its realy stunning and so bright on the nail.  Formula was excellent, it was almost a one coater. The black cap pops off and you have a stumpy black lid that you hold to apply the polish.  The brush is the standard Chanel brush, thin but pliable.

What you see above is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped off with a coat of Nails Inc Kensington Top Coat.  Unlike the chrome polishes we have been seeing of late, the application of a top coat does not effect the finish of the polish.

I’ve worn this for three days and Ive only just chipped it.  So colour me impressed!

I paid £18 for this polish and I picked it up at the Chanel counter at Selfridges Exchange Square in Manchester.  It is also available at a limited number of other stores.  if you are a Chanel collector, this one is a no brainer, but there are some fabulous (and cheaper) silver shades out there.

Wet N Wild Megalast – Echo Dark

So the hubby and I were fortunate enough to go to the States a couple of weeks back for our wedding anniversary. We had an amazing time and its hard to believe we’ve been back two weeks now. I was lucky enough to get into CVS and Walgreens (in more than one occasion I might add) to pick through the polish collections. Sadly, I didn’t see many that caught my eye, however, my love for Megalasts is well known and I came across the single solitary polish in a stand – this is from the Fall 2014 limited edition matte shades which came with matte lip shades too.

Super easy formula to work with, this is two easy coats over a base of Nailtiques 2.  Drying time was fast. Not super fast, but fast enough and it does dry to a rubberised finish.  Not quite a matte but then not like the Maybelline Color Show Vinyls either.  The Megalast brush is tapered so you can get close to cuticles and have a neat edge – but if you are picking these up yourself, do check the brush before hand.  This one was OK and I was worried as it was the last one, the brush would have been wonky, or even absent.  No worries on that front – PHEW!

Anyway, its a super dark navy and unlike any shade I have in the stash.  i seriously thought there would be a dupe in there, but nope.  That makes me a little bit happy.  Plus, the cap is rubberised so it has a squishy feel to it.  Its a great little touch.

As I say, I only have this one, but you can check out the rest on the fab Nouveau Cheap right here. You may be able to picked these up on eBay if you move quickly as Wet N Wild do not stock the UK or any part of Europe.

Barry M – Moonlight Ltd Ed Winter 2014

I happened upon the new Barry M glitter toppers released in Boots.  There are two, both of them have red bottle tops.  This is the first one I have tried and is called Moonlight.  The other one is called Starlight.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Moonlight is a glitter topper, with silver stars, silver glitter of varying sizes and small red moon shapes in the clear base coat.  Here you can see one coat over a base of Wet N Wild Haze of Love.  It is packed with glitter and so the dab, splodge and move about the nail for even glitter placement is the best way forward here.

The stars didn’t come out with every dip in the bottle, but you certainly get a good range of red moons in every brushstroke.

These are limited edition and are only available from Boots.  If you like it, best get it quick as last year the editions did sell out quickly.

Spotted – updated stands for Christmas and some new items from Miss Sporty

A few of the stands in your local drugstores may be updated in the near future if they haven’t already. First up, Rimmel has a new end cap in Superdrug – in particular highlighting the new Pop Art topper and those Glitter Bomb shades.

Then new shades in the Miss Sporty stand….

Inlcuding another high street glitter peel off base coat, just like the new one from NYC New York Color.

And some new hologram shades.. not sure these are 100% new but they are in the new updated stand.

That is all this time, what have you seen out and about?

Manhattan – Strawberry Cake

Today I have another of the Manhattan polishes I picked up from Austria.  I do love these *quite* a bit.  This is the Birthday Colours collection, a collection of what the BIPA website tells me is 15 shades and the above image is from the Manhattan Facebook page! I didn’t see that many when I was away but I have three from this collection to share with you.  I also, thanks to google, found out that this is a range created by fans.  How awesome!

First up, this is Strawberry Cake!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped with G&G HK Girl.  Formula was good, easy to work with, and the larger pieces of glitter were less likley to come out of the bottle and overworking of the polish dragged them near the free nail edge.  However, isn’t this pretty!

Its the right side of pink for me, the glitter is either silver or a light pink, or a mix of both.  I cannot quite confrim it either way.  Its a good strawberry red/pink and I love the little red glitters that are also in the polish.  Really makes it a bit different to other things in my stash.

What do you think?  I paid €5 for this and the other ones I have yet to show you, I think its certainly worth that.  Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Chanel – Fashions Night Out 2014 Sweet Star

A very quick and dirty post here – the images are not great, but I wanted to share with you quickly the new Chanel FNO nail polish for 2014.  This is Sweet Star and is very limited and available NOW in Selfridges and other Chanel Boutiques.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

So is it silver or is it purple?  I don’t know.  One minute it looks silver with a hint of purple and then its purple with a hint of silver.

Formula – good, this is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped with G&G HK Girl.  Drying time was excellent. It is slightly brushstrokey, but it does dry less obvious and so a good top coat will mask some of that.

I am quite smitten, but as the collector I guess you expected that!

This will set you back £18 if you can find one.  Let me know what you think in the comments.

Maybelline Color Show Vinyl – Teal The Deal

Final polish in the new limited edition Maybelline Color Show Vinyl polishes to share with you today.  Out of the four, this is my least favourite, but its actually quite a good shade for autumn.  Bright and yet not neon.  Lets look at some pics of Teal the Deal!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As with the other three shdaes, this is two coats over a base of Essence Anti Nail Split Sealer.  On a side note, I have noticed that my nails are peeling again, so its back out with the Nailtiques 2 and I may even go polish free for a couple of days just to kick start the treatment.

Anyway, formula is OK.  I will be honest, out of all four, this one is the worst.  It does drag and it dries very quick, making it easier to crate drag.  But it does well with two coats and it does cling to your nail bed.  Look at that colour, a tealy blue shade, that is quite lively but not too in your face.  Its a good autumn colour for when you aren’t quite ready to quit the brightness for vampy colours!

Have you seen these out and about in polish land?  They should be on a shelf near you now!
