Spotted! Maybelline Color Show Limited Editions now in Poundland!

I was in my local Poundland, just doing a sweep to see what was popping up on the shelves, and I saw these little beauties! Look!  The three above are from the Stripped Nudes collection, the Brocades collection and the Street Artist collection.  I also saw some polishes from both the Neon Collection, the Vintage Leather collection and the Bleached Neon collections.  Not a full set either way and from what I can tell, these are European Editions, not US ones (where these collections in particular where larger, so more in the bleached neon collection), so none of those more elusive shades to be seen!

Have you seen these in your local pound store?  Did you pick any up?

Maybelline Color Show Suit Style – Red Reaction

Hey there – hope you all had great weekends!  Today I have a polish to show you thats been on my fingers for ages!  Gosh, I’ve fallen hard for this one… lets check out some pics!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Look at the red and the sparkle – OMG this is one gorgeous polish!  What you see here is three thin coats over a base of Naitiques 2 and topped off with Essie Gel Setter as my top coat (works like a treat on slight dull polishes!)  I did quite thin coats as the glitter tends to get dragged off otherwise and then you have the added benefit of building up some good depth of colour.

Red Reaction is part of the new Suit Style collection, and a sister polish to Suit & Sensibility, from Maybelline Color Show which has been out for a couple of weeks now.  Superdrug seems to have nail items on a 3 for 2, so worth picking this up if it catches your eye.

What are your pics from the Suit Style collection?  Let me know in the comments!

Spotted! Rebel Bouquet Collection by Maybelline Color Show

I knew it, I KNEW IT!!  A new Maybelline Color Show collection for Winter/Spring 2015.   This is Rebel Bouquet – an understated collection of five polishes, understated bearing in mind the Be Brilliant and Crystallize Collections!  Anyway, enough yakking – here are the pics!

2015/01/img_7274.jpg

As you can see above, what we are fundamentally talking about is four creme shades and a glitter topper. Now look at the glitter topper in the image, to me it looks white, with green and blue in? Yes? Possibly even SHAPED blue glitter?

2015/01/img_7275.jpg

From the left (426) Peach Bloom, (427) Fuchsia Petal, (428) Vivid Rose, (429) Orchid Violet and (430) Top Coat Bouquet. As we saw in this post here, Bouquet is actually a mix of white and pinky red. No blue nor green. Not sure what is going on there, seems a bit odd.

2015/01/img_7276.jpgJust so you know I’m not going crackers, here is the image for Bouquet from the Superdrug website – see?  its not what it looks like above.

I am quite gutted about that, a white, green and blue spring like topper would have been awesome!  From what I can tell, the white/green topper is a Europe edition.  I found this on Amazon.Fr showing the other topper.  Nothing on Gemey Maybelline France yet. Clearly the marketing team in the UK got the wrong image.  *sigh* don’t forget this wouldn’t be the first time this has happened, remember the Europe only changes to both the Acid Wash effects AND the Nail Vinyl collection.

Finally, in the US, Rebel Bloom is a collection of lipsticks as seen here on Nouveau Cheap, wonder if we might see them in coming weeks??

Anyway, first of the new collections from the high street.  Lots of 3 for 2 offers on, so if this catches your eye, get on out there.  Did you pick these up?  Let me know in the comments.

Maybelline Color Show – Greyze In Love

Today I have another of the Fashion Rocks 2014 collection by Maybelline Color Show.  This was a US release that came out in August.  You may have noticed a theme in the naming, the first one we saw was called Plum As You Are, and this one is Greyze In Love…..

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Gosh I love this – quite a lot.  Formula was excellent, this is two thin coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped with Essence Better Than Gel Nails top coat.  Its dark and its grey and its lovely.  Its a proper creme, no shimmer, no glitter but it dries super shiny even before I put the top coat on.

The Fashion Rocks collection was a US only release from what I can tell. You can see the collection on the lovely Nouveau Cheap.

Do you have anything similar in your stash?  Let me know in the comments.

Maybelline Color Show – Plum As You Are

Back to the polishes I picked up in the US. This is one from a Maybelline release from late Summer 2014, as part of the Fashion  Rocks collection, so I was quite surprised to see an almost full stand with several of the limited edition items. This is Plum As You Are – love the name!

Lets check out the pics.

So this is a dark plum shade, shot through with a lighter plum shimmer.  You can see the shimmer in the bottle really clearly and there is a *hint* of it on the nail.  Formula for good, this is two coats cover a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped with Essence Better Than Gel Nails.

Shades like this are always lovey, dark, vampy and sultry.  The shimmer, although it is barely there, gives it extra points.

Maybelline Color Show Be Brilliant – Light It Up

I have another of the Color Show Be Brilliant collection to share with you all today – this one is sooooo sparkly, it gave my camera the hiccups! This one is Light It Up!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

So I was trying to find suitable undies for this polish, and I didn’t want to go black.  So I put on Sweet Star, which is the Chanel Ltd Ed FNO polish on, and them blinged it up.

All the glitters in Light It Up are super reflective.  There is a mix of silver, very pale pink and blue along with some smaller silver bits.  All in all, its quite the glitter bomb.  Unlike Skyline Blue, the formula on this was no where near as gloopy.  Much easier to work with and its pretty much one thick-ish coat on each nail.  Apart from one nail where I did two coats and it was almost too much!

Lots of offers out there at the moment, so if you are looking to pick this one up and you haven’t, do shop about.  It is limited edition so sooner rather than later if you want it!

Maybelline Color Show Be Brilliant – Skyline Blue

I’ve taken a quick break from the few polishes I bought in the US to share with you the Maybelline Color Show Be Brilliant polishes that I’ve been wearing.  I previously posted about Spotting these here and here – so do check those posts out too. These are glitter toppers, meaning that they are clear or lightly tinted in the base and packed with glitter.  This is the first one I got on my nails, this is the blue from the set, called Skyline Blue.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I popped Skyline Blue over a base of Wet N Wild Echo Dark (previously seen here) and it works fabulously!  The dark blue really makes the glitters pop and shine, and then when locked in with a shiny top coat, the effect it quite eye catching.

Its a mix of blue, purple and smaller silver pieces.  There is some light blue in there too!  I have one issue with these, and that is the application and formula.  They are quite gloopy, so I’d suggest you check the bottle before you bring it home.  I opened several of the bottles as when I picked them up there were large air pockets at the side and when I rolled the polish it didn’t move.  That was a bit of a warning sign so I opened it and it was exceptionally gloopy.  I picked up a second and it was better but still gloopy.  I checked all the bottles and others I have seen to ensure that it wasn’t just mine.

That said, it is quite easy one the glitter is on the brush to get it onto the nail.  This is one or two passes with the brush so coverage is variable.

I was surprised not to have too many blue/purple glitters in the stash, so this was a welcome addition.  Let me know what you think in the comments!

Thanks for reading!

Halloween Nails with MoYou Halloween Plate

I got one of the Halloween plates, before they all sold out at MoYou.  And I am glad I did as they are all gone!  This is from the Festive collection, which also includes Easter, Christmas and New Year plates.

I did a bit of a mix and match here, using some of the different images and different colours.  I love the spiders on the thumbnail – its a base of Maybelline Color Show Vinyl, Grey Beats, stamped with a variety of Sally Hansen Insta Dri polishes.  All sealed in with a coat of G&G HK Girl.

Happy Halloween!!!

Maybelline Vintage Leather – Gilded Emerald

I am a naughty blogger – I went away and forgot to programme any content for you all.  It was all a bit last minute and apologies to those of you who wondered where I had gone.  Not far, I’d gone to Vienna but I am back now and I have some new lovelies to share with you.

That said, this one I’m am about to share I picked up this summer in France.  This was part of the Vintage Leather effect polishes that came out in Autumn 2013 in the UK but some of the shades are still available in Europe.  This is one that was seen the in the US collection but not the set of four (red, tan, grey and turqoise) released in the UK. Anyway, here we go, this is Gilded Emerald.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The last couple of pictures are done with a top coat.  Now this is quite pretty, it has paler colour flakes embedded into the polish and when it dries to its matte finish, you can see these every so often in the light.  Its a dark, brown green shade, nothing like the name implies of emerald, but I guess if you gilded it…

Anyway, formula was lovely.  This is two coats over a base of G&G Stuck on Blu!  Drying time was fast.  Finish is a matte effect and so wear is noticable reduced because its a matte finish.  The glossy top coat does bring the flakies out a bit more and prolongs wear.  I literally could not get through the morning without it chipping.

This is a massive shame because it cute, seriously cute.

Anyway, not sure if you can get this anywhere, perhaps eBay.  But let me know what you think and what are you favourite ways to matte shades – do you buy matte polish or just a mate top coat!

Maybelline Color Show Vinyl – Teal The Deal

Final polish in the new limited edition Maybelline Color Show Vinyl polishes to share with you today.  Out of the four, this is my least favourite, but its actually quite a good shade for autumn.  Bright and yet not neon.  Lets look at some pics of Teal the Deal!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As with the other three shdaes, this is two coats over a base of Essence Anti Nail Split Sealer.  On a side note, I have noticed that my nails are peeling again, so its back out with the Nailtiques 2 and I may even go polish free for a couple of days just to kick start the treatment.

Anyway, formula is OK.  I will be honest, out of all four, this one is the worst.  It does drag and it dries very quick, making it easier to crate drag.  But it does well with two coats and it does cling to your nail bed.  Look at that colour, a tealy blue shade, that is quite lively but not too in your face.  Its a good autumn colour for when you aren’t quite ready to quit the brightness for vampy colours!

Have you seen these out and about in polish land?  They should be on a shelf near you now!
