Milani Neon – Awesome Orange

Ugh, the weather here is awful.  Rain rain and more rain.  How depressing.  The only positive is that is is not snow.  So todays polish is a kick back against that and this one is one of the last few from the US nail haul.

Awesome Orange is just that, an awesome orange shade that is very neon.  In fact, the pictures really do not pick up on how neon it is.  If I had put it over white, I am sure it would be very intense.  Formula was good, just a tad on the watery side, but what you see above it three thin coats of polish.  As with lots of neon polishes it does dry slightly matte so I pop on a good coat of G&G HK Girl to make it shin.

The other thing worth noting is that the slight visible nail line you can see in one or two of the images is not so apparent in person.  I do love a good orange and this one is a good one.

What is your favourite orange shade?  Let me know in the comments!

Things I bought in the US

As promised, here are my purchases from my recent trip to the US.  We had a wonderful time, lots of things to see and do and I got to visit my first Harmon’s – very exciting! First up, some pics of the ranges I was hoping to see.  First up, Revlon Parfumerie.  I just love these. 20131214-121934.jpg Then, more Revlon.  With the new Matte effects and Sun Candy ranges. 20131214-121949.jpg Followed by new Wet N Wild megarocks! 20131214-121959.jpg And now my purchases…..I’m going to add links to other blogs, in particular Nouveau Cheap, so that you can see the full range.  These are all US polishes and for Europe/UK ladies, you either need a trip to the US, a swap buddy or a look on eBay to get your hands on these.

These are the Color Shows I picked up, from the top Beaming Blue, Crushed Crimson and Amethyst Couture from the larger US Brocades range, beneath them Styled Out from the Denim Range and Dotty from the US Polka Dots range. 20131214-103256.jpg Here we have my first new Covergirl polish in 315 Timless Rubies, Sally Hansen Sugar Shimmer in Cinny Sweet (see the Fall 2013 range here), Wet N Wild megarocks in Slap the Bass and Milani Neon in Awesome Orange.20131214-103313.jpg No judging… I’m still not done…  L’Oreal in Hidden Gems and I Like it Chunky from the Gold Dust collection. 20131214-103306.jpg More Sally Hansen goodies now, from the top right Fa-La-La-Lavender (Holiday 2013), Satin Glam in Silk Onyx and Sun Sheen (rest of the range here), Insta-Dry in Chop Chop Copper (Fall 2013).  Beneath them Twinkle Toes-ty (Holiday 2013) and Xtreme Wear in Rosey Shooter, Sea-ly String, Frazzle Dazzle and Green Rocket from the Fall 2013 range (see more info here) 20131214-103233.jpg I’m very excited to try out these two from the new Sephora X collection.  This is Spark and Bombshell. 20131214-103248.jpg And then, finally…. more Revlon.  Parfumerie in Autumn Spice and Winter Mint, Revlon Elusive, Revlon Sun Candy in Lava Flame and some spider nail art stencils that I think are Halloween 2012 or 2013 (sale item). 20131214-103242.jpg So there you have it.  My addiction laid bare.  Anything catch your eye and what you would like to see first??  Hit me up in the comments!

Milani – Silver Dazzle

Today for your viewing pleasure I have Milani Silver Dazzle, one of the One Coat Glitter range. I know I’ve waxed lyrical about Milani in previous posts, but WARNING, I’m about to do it again.  I LOVE THIS POLISH!  Why Milani are not trying to crack the UK market is beyond me, there is such a need for quality like this.  Obviously I am just very greedy and want all US brands (yes that includes you Wet N Wild) to start hitting our shores.

I was exceptionally skeptical about the one coat glitter claim.  WRONG.  It does what is says on the label.  One coat.  Of glitter.  Yes, one coat of super shiny, blackened silvery goodness.  Its a great colour, the particles are all of a similar size and coverage is actually brilliant in one coat.  It can be a little bit gloopy on the brush so on one nail I tried a very thin layer which still gave a nice even coverage but you could still see a peaking on my nail underneath.

Despite the fact it does cover in one coat, I went ahead and did a second.  This baby wore like IRON for several days.  It didn’t chip when I used my nails as a tool, nor when I was puling weeds out of the garden with wild abandon.  It stayed put when I had to rummage through a big box of Lego to find that one part my son had put into the box that we really need to finish building our mini batmobile.

As you can see above, I grabbed my bottle of Glitz Gal from Sally Hansen just before I removed it form my nails as its the closest thing I have in my stash.  The base colour is very similar but Glitz Gal has some holographic pieces in there that ramp up the bling.  I still need both. Removal was a bit of a pain but completely worth it, just make sure you soak your nails well or use the glitter removal method (see Berry Polished here for a tutorial)

You may also note in the images that for the first time in ages, my Seche Vite top coat gave me some shrinkage on my tips. I’m not so happy about that as at first I thought it was tip wear until the light bulb came on.  Next time, I’ll rock another top coat and let you know how it goes.

What other One Coat Glitters do you guys have?

Milani 3D Holographic – Hi-Res

OK, here we have yet more Milani Nail Polishes. I cannot get over how brilliant they are. I urge Milani to crack the UK market NOW!! Occasionally they pop up on eBay or Amazon (for a very steep price!!), but not often. Like last time, mine came from a great US Polish buddy

This little beauty is from the 3D Holographic range. And look how she shines. It’s lovely. Formula was good, I did three thin coats (again watch for dragging with anything with a holographic pigment) and it dries quickly so three coats doesn’t take ages. I base coated with Essie’s Millionnails and top coats with Seche Vite. Its a lovely dark lavender colour.

I don’t have much else to say beacause this polish is simply great.

Do you have any of the 3D Holographics?

Milani – Flash Light

I’m quite into these Milani polishes, the formula on them is great, they provide good coverage and they have a fab range of colours.  Sadly, they only ship the US and Canada.  However, they are readily available in blog sales and through swapping with other polish pals.  I did the latter.

As well as having a black polish fixation, I am obsessed with orange polish.  Shiny, matte, creme, glitter – I have no preference as I love them all.  Flash Light is a deep orange with a coral leaning.  It has a very faint pink (or maybe lavender) shimmer that is evident amongst the glass fleck.  Its a fab colour, really intense.

It will need three coats to ensure coverage of the VNL.  However it dries pretty fast so there is no time issue with this taking longer than usual.  It has a pretty good shine and colour but a good top coat, here is Seche Vite on the top, provides a good shine and really makes it POP!

As the colour was building up, I was thinking this looks familiar.  So in the images I did a quick comparison with the other oranges I had to hand.  I’ve compared it with Wet N Wild 9. 0. 2. 1. Orange and China Glaze Riveting.  The difference between the CG and the Milani is apparent in person and in the image with the flash. Its not as in your face as the CG but not a true dupe.  I shall be keeping them both.
