Rose Gold Flamingo Nails

Today’s mani was something that I did for my last day in my old job – I’ve been gone for three weeks now and it still feels odd.  Anyway, fo rmy last day I picked up this gorgeous flamingo scarf in M&S of all places.  I was struck by its rose gold flamingos and then I remembered one of my Moyou plates has a flamingo design on.  And viola!

This is a base of Cult Nails Tempest, my current go to white stamped with the flamingos from Moyou Tropical plate 04 in Models Own Chrome Rose.

I LOVE THIS – I was thrilled with my stamping and all 10 nails looked awesome!  Base was Nailtiques 2 and topped off with Nails Inc Kensington Top coat.  Love love love!  I think I will do this again over black – bloody love it!

Models Own – Chrome Pink

Wowzers, this is one heck of a pink polish.  Its a bit too much colour wise for me, but as we’ve previously discussed, it seemed wrong not to get a full set during the Models Own sale when they were £2.50 each…. but lets check out some pictures before we get into the nitty gritty!

Chrome Pink is one of the Colour Chrome Collection released by Models Own this spring.  This one is certainly one the brightest in the collection and probably my least favourite of the bunch.  But that is because I’m not a fan of pink.  No way.  Not at all and I’m not convinced that the colour does anything for my skin tone.

However, that aside, the formula is good and workable.  It does dry very quickly, so by the time you have done ten fingers (or toes) it will be time to go back over them again.  Quick isn’t the word!

There are ten shades in the Colour Chrome Collection and we’ve already seen Blue, Gold,  Indigo, Mauve, Olive and Rose. We saw silver earlier this week on the blog.  RRP is £4.99 if you pick them up in Superdrug (which is now a Models Own stockist) or order them online directly.

Models Own – Chrome Blue

I have been a bit remiss, sorry all.  I meant to share all the Models Own Colour Chrome collections close together and I’ve been swayed by other pretties.  I promise to try harder…. so with that in mind, here is number six – Chrome Blue

Yep, that is blue alright.  A good blue.  A true blue.  Not denim leaning.  Two easy coats over a base of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Base coat.  As always, speed is an issue with a chrome polish.  Take too long or go over a partially dry area and dragging will occur.  I love how easy they are to remove and apply, meaning if you do change your polish frequently, then its not too time intensive.  I did get a good two solid days out of this before it chipped significantly.  I keep meaning to see what damage a top coat does, but I haven’t the heart to ruin a nice mani… I will try and report back however.

Models Own – Chrome Gold

Still going through these lovely Models Own Colour Chrome polishes, the whole collection of ten is really quite something.  This one is Chrome Gold, and to be honest, I only picked it up to make the sent complete – ever the polish hoarder!

Lets look at some pics

As you can see, I really struggled to get a good picture of the gold. Its quite a pale shade, akin to straw, so its not fully blingy and in your face.

Formula was consistent with others in the range that we have seen in the last couple of weeks. This is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 with no top coat.

You can pick up these polishes from the  Models Own website or go directly to  the Colour Chrome Collection page.

Model Own – Chrome Cerise

We are still working our way though the Colour Chrome Collection from Models Own.  Its a series of 10 chrome shades and because there were on sale, I bought them all…. we’ve already seen Indigo, Mauve, Olive and Rose.  Lets go straight to the pictures

Wow, this is what I call a POP of colour. This is by far one of the brights shades in the entire collection. its really shiny and its just the perfect Cerise colour, it does look like cooked cherries to me.

Again, the formula was good. Work quick, even if you only get on pass in one each nail and then go back to fill in the sides. You application will have less brushstrokes. I haven’t used a top coat here, and to be honest, I have tried a top coat on these. I do use a base coat, if nothing else it even out the nail bed as I have the odd ridge here and there. It does cling to your nails so if you have a ridge problem, you may want to apply this over a ridge smoothing base or even a clear polish layer first.

A note on the brush, its a wide flat brush, not unlike that we’ve seen in Dior polishes and I think its probably a bit similar to the new Barry M brush (I’ve not seen it or used it, so I can’t comment). Either way, I do find it quite easy to use. And on smaller fingers, its one swipe and you are done!

Let me know what you think in the comments, have you picked any of these up yet? How do you plan on wearing them?

Models Own – Chrome Rose

More Models Own Colour Chome Collection polishes for you today – this one is Chrome Rose, as you might be thinking, its a rose gold kind of shade.  Not my usual go to colour.  Lets check out the pics!

I think I have fallen for this one too.  As I said above, not a shade I would have naturally bought had it not been for the sale.  But for £2.50 I think its a great purchase.

Formula was good, again (and as with many metallic shades) speed is of the essence here.  I’ve tried several approaches in the last week or so, thin coats is fine but dragging is easier.  I’ve loaded my brush with a tab more polish than I normally would and then pooled in front of my cuticle.  Then I’ve pulled the polish up in one sweep or two for the bigger nails, taking off any excess polish at the same time.  Then a second coat covers all sins!  Just try and see what works best for you.

Anyway, what do you think?  Yay or nay?  Let me know in the comment

Models Own – Chrome Mauve

So the next Chrome Colour polish to grace my fingers was Chrome Mauve. The name pretty much describes the colour within…. its certainly not pink!  Anyway, lets check out some pictures.

Wow.  These chromes are pretty nice huh?  As like Chrome Indigo, the formula is good, quick drying and easy to worth with as a chrome polish can be.  Speed is still needed but the large flatter brush works well in this instance and its a good size for my average size nails.

Have you picked up any of the colour chromes yet?  Let me know what you think in the comments.

Models Own – Chrome Indigo

You may have heard that Models Own were holding a half price sale, around the same time as they launched the Colour Chrome Collection.  Its a series of 10 chrome shades and because there were on sale, I bought them all…. shhh… don’t tell anyone!  We will get through them all over the next couple of weeks or so, but this is the first one – Chrome Indigo!

Gosh I do love this.  Its STUNNING on the nail, stunning!

Care is needed on application, chrome finishes dry fast and can drag leaving bald spots.  Speed is the key.  Thankfully the Models Own brushes are quite wide, so on larger nails its two wipes (one each side).  What you see above is two thin coats, over a base of Nailtiques 2.  No top coat here.

I did worry about wear time and apart from a small chip – my fault, I was using my nail as a tool – the polish wore solidly for two whole days.  Colour me impressed!  I hope this is the start of a beautiful relationship!  And I hear they stamp well, so this could be a winner all around!

For those of you in the US, my experience with these is very similar to that of Sally Hansen Color Foils. So if you missed some, or if you are in the UK lusting after them, these will fill that need!

Did you pick up anything from the Models Own sale?  Does the Colour Chrome Collection catch your eye?
