OPI – Today I Accomplished Zero

Man, I love this polish.  I can’t believe I haven’t shown you before, its bonkers!  How can you not love a range of Coca Cola nail polish! This is the second one I have from the OPI Coca Cola Collection, the first being the European orange, Orange You Stylish! Here come the pictures!

Today I Accomplished Zero is a blackened base with red glitter – its the polish equivalent of Coke Zero, which from my recall is red with black logos etc. Anyway, this is two and sometimes three coats over a base of G&G Stuck on Blu! and topped with G&G HK Girl.  Why two or three?  Well one some nails I could see my visible nail line and I knew that a little thinner third coat would sort that out.  And it did.

Plus points?  Red and black, winning combination.  Minus points?  Well its a polish RAMMED with glitter, removal nightmare!  Plus point?  It wears like iron…. iron I tell you.

Lots of etailers and retailers for OPI in the UK, I don’t think there is a need for me to list where, but if you have a fave, do let us know in the comments!

Orange and White Chevon Nails

I was feeling a bit inspired after seeing THIS POST on Love Varnish, Chocolate and More blog – I just fell hard for the combination of orange and off white.  After a bit of rummaging in my stash, I decided to do a pure white and orange (because I couldn’t find either of my nude Barry Ms)

My mani consists of Cult Nails Tempest for the white and OPI A Woman’s Prague-ative for the shimmery orange.  The nail vinyls I used to make the chevron shape came from She Sells Sea Shells and were very easy to use.

Basically, you paint your base coat, then leave it to dry longer than you would think.  Apply the vinyls where you want and then use your accent colour.  Then whilst they are still wet, peel off the vinyl, probably using tweezers.  If your base coat is still too tacky, it sticks like glue and its hard to pull off!

Anyway, its something so simple even I can’t completely mess it up!  Let me know what colour combinations you would try in the comments.

OPI – Orange You Stylish!

Ahhh, OPI, so many lovely collections coming out recently and very shortly.  Its great for new collections and not great for my wallet….. the image above is from the Coca Cola collection which has been out in the US for a bit longer than its been available in the UK.  This one I am going to show you today is actually a European exclusive called Orange You Stylish! which replaces the glitter edition Fanta polish that came out in the US (which I am also DYING to get my hands on….)

Anyway, pictures!

Yummy yummy!  This one is right up my street – a fabulous orange creme which is just divine.  I love shades like this as regular readers will well know.  This is two coats over a base of Essence Anti Nail Split Sealer and topped with G&G HK Girl to bring on the orange loveliness.

Formula is good, it flows onto the nail and dries evenly.  Levelling is also good.  Its a proper Fanta orange isn’t it?  There are quite a lot of OPI retailers now available in the UK so getting your hands on these shouldn’t be too hard!

Did you pick up anything from the Coca Cola collection?  Or do you have your eye on one of them?  Let me know in the comments!

New Things I Have Spotted #76 – OPI, M&S Autograph, Next & MUA

I’ve had the day off, so I took the opportunity to have a pootle through the shops and see what was going on polish-wise.  Quite a few new things on shelves… lets take a look!

First up, I spotted the Gwen Stefani and Brazil OPI collections in my local John Lewis.  They also had all the Gwen polishes, including the minis, the special edition boxed red and the silver foil, and they also had both mini sets of the Brazil polishes – one creme, one liquid sands.

I know we looked at M&S last time, but they are at it again with new releases.  This time as part of their autograph collection – three shimmers (although one does look potentially holo-ish!) at £5 each.

Its been a long time since I’ve been in a Next, but I did see this range of £3 nail polish.  Some interesting finishes and colour ways.

And then finally, in Superdrug, the MUA Foil Luxe Nail Polishes are out.  These are just like the colourfoil kits you may have already seen.  You get a base colour, some foils and (possibly) glue and away you go.  These are RRP £5 and come in three different colour/finish ways.

OPI – Embarca-Dare Ya!

*Disclosure: This product was sent to me for review but this does not influence the opinions expressed in this blog which are entirely my own.

We’ve already seen a few of the San Fransisco OPI Nail Polishes and I have a final one for you today.  This one is Embarca-Dare Ya! and is a super red leaning fuchsia or magenta colour.

Its really very pretty and these images don’t show how lovely it is.  The polish is very well pigmented, what you see above is two coats, but if you coat quite thickly you might get away with just one.  Formula is great and really workable, it dries quickly between coats and self levels.  I used my usual paring of Glisten & Glow Stuck on Blu! and HK Girl for base and top coat.

There is a very subtle shimmer running through this polish, its sliver in nature and you can just about this see on the name in person.  I do like this colour, its just the right side of too pink for me.  I even stamped over the top of it so that I could wear it for another day!

OPI bottles come in minis or 15ml, as you can see here, so you get quite a bit of polish for your money.  The black cap unscrews and the brush is firm yet pliable.  My polish was sent to me, for my honest review, by Chemists Direct and you can purchase it from them as well as other stockists.

What do you think?  What is your favourite from the San Francisco collection?

OPI – What Wizardry Is This?

I mentioned on Monday, that my textured polish obsession was getting out of hand, so I’m bunching together a number of posts of textured nails.  This one was bought to me as gift from my lovely mum.  She is very good to me.

This OPI is from the recent Wizard of Oz collection, it was the only one that caught my eye as the majority of the collection was quite nude and pale.  Which is fine, but didn’t really do anything for me.  This is a liquid sand polish, so is the OPI take on the textured trend.

Here come the pics…

Gosh, I just love browns for autumn, they are very colour appropriate.  This one is a bronze/brown and dries a bit lighter than the bottle.  Its not too dark but its not too light, its a great mid brown.  OPI polishes come in slighter larger bottles, so you get 15ml for your money.  The brush is good and workable, bringing a good amount of polish to the nail.  Now onto the formula – I found this to be good, certainly not too runny.  Again, no top coat in these images but I did base with Glisten & Glow Stuck on Blu! to protect my nails (UK based stockist is Rainbow Connection).

OPI is readily available via a number of stockists, and a wide variety online.

Let me know what you think!  Thanks for reading!

OPI – Dining Al Frisco

*Disclosure: This product was sent to me for review but this does not influence the opinions expressed in this blog which are entirely my own.

I have another of the San Francisco OPI Nail Polishes for you today.  This one is an icy cool blue, which reminds me of the cool Pacific.  Lets have a look at some pictures shall we?

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is a cool blue, akin to a pale blue clear sky or a cold ocean.  Its lovely.  Formula was just a nice, good coverage, almost a one coater.  Its a great self leveller and dries within average time.  I used two coats of Dining Al Frisco over a base of Glisten and Glow Stuck on Blu and a good coat of Glisten and Glow HK Girl over the top.

A good cool blue or too icy for you? Let me know in the comments!

OPI – Muir Muir On the Wall

Hi there, hope you are having a great week!  Today I have my second of the OPI San Francisco collection that I bought.  This one has special meaning to me, which is ridiculous because it is a polish after all.  The Hubster and I visited Muir Woods as part of our honeymoon trip around the US.  It was a damp, rainy day but we had the most amazing visit.  What sticks with me now even 10 years later, is the smell of the woods,  it was amazing – all those big trees

Anyway, I digress, here somes the polish – Muir Muir on the Wall

This is a really dark rich plum with a shimmer.  Its lovely.  I really love these kinds of colours, they make my heart sing.  Formula was good, easy to work with and dries to a nice shiny finish.  I base coated with Essence Studio Nails Better than Gel Nails and topped with the shiny gel top top form the same range.  Wear was excellent and the colour is really spectacular in the sunshine.

As I mentioned in the previous post, I bought my recent OPI purchases from Nail Polish Direct.  Well worth checking out if any of these catch your eye.

OPI – Peace & Love & OPI

OPI has released a collection based on the city of San Francisco for Fall 2013.  Its a huge collection, with 12 polishes and 3 liquid sands.  I have a couple of show you, so this is the first one – Love & Peace & OPI.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is a duochrome polish that flashes pink, purple and silver.  Not an unusual combination or colour, as I have seen similar ones in the past, but what makes this stand out is the colour combined with the formula.  Its lovely.  OPI bottles are quite big, 15ml of product, in a heavy glass bottle with black cap.  The brush to good, firm but not stiff and easy to use with the formula.  I based with Essence Studio Nails Better Than Gel Nails and used their Gel Shine top coat – lovely.  Gave it good shine and durability.

If you follow lots of nail blogs, you may have already seen that this one is meant to be a dupe for the new Essie For the Twill of it.  I don’t have the Essie, but it was on my wish list.  I got this little gem from Nail Polish Direct – they have a great price point and excellent fast shipping.  It was my first time purchasing from them and I’ve been delighted with the service.

Did you pick up anything from the SF Collection?  Let me know in the comments.

OPI – A Woman’s Prague-ative

Today I have one of the OPI Euro Centrale collection for you.  This one is called A Woman’s Prague-ative – snappy I know – and was part of the OPI Spring/Summer 2013 range.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Wow, I love this.  Formula was to die for, colour is to die for and the wear is phenomenal.  Its a great, russet bronzey orange colour that is just so shimmer and sparkly.  I used up the end of my Essence Studio Nails Better Than Gel Nails Base and Gel Shine Top Coat for this mani – firstly because they are great products and secondly, I can remove the bottles from the polish table.

OPI is readily available from a number of places – the official retailer in the UK is Lena White, and they now have an updated website.  You can visit it here. RRP is about £11.50 but you can shop about.

What do you think?  I certainly feel this one is a keeper!
