Its Nella time again!  This week its a shade called Vintage Violet!  Lets look at some pictures…

This is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 with a top coat of Nails Inc Kensington to bring out the shine.  Although I must admit the polish dried quite shiny on its own, without any additional help required.  Formula was good, its a great creme shade, not hint of a shimmer and it dries and levels well.  Its a super shade or purple, slightly dusty but still bright.

On the website you can search by collection, there are eight sets and one set of top and base coat www.nellamilano.com.  You can also visit the brand on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest or Facebook to keep up to date with releases and current shades.  The price point is £8.95.  But this week, Vintage Violet should be on offer for £4.95, so if you like the look of this, this is the week to take the plunge and buy!

Sally Hansen Satin Glam – Taffetta

Today I have a polish to share with you that I picked up in a pound store, we already seen Iced Metal here on the blog, which I picked up at the same time.  I do love these Satin Glam shades – there is something about the finish of them that makes my heart sing.  Anyway, enough chat, lets check out some pics!

This is a great royal purple shade and the finish is just to die for.  And in the sun, wow.  I took one pic outside and the way it catches the light is just lovely.

Two easy coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 with no top coat.  Drying time is super quick as its akin to a matte polish.  The only thing with these bottles is the very long brush that comes with them.  Great for getting to the end of the bottle but also easy to flood your cuticle and the polish runs down from above the brush on onto your nail.  But worth the little bit of pain I think!

Its mid week and its Nella Milano time again!  This time a lovely purple shade perfect for any time of the year!  Lets check out some pictures.

Wow, look at the colour!  It is so pretty and the formula is great.  This is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped with Nails Inc Kensington Top Coat.  It did wear like iron, more so than usual, so I was very pleased.   Question is, do you think this is purple or lilac?

On the website you can search by collection, there are eight sets and one set of top and base coat www.nellamilano.com.  You can also visit the brand on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest or Facebook to keep up to date with releases and current shades.  The price point is £8.95.  But this week, Summersby should be on offer for £4.95, so if you like the look of this, this is the week to take the plunge and buy!

Chanel – Lavanda

Finally catching up with some of my recent purchases, I did take the plunge a buy two more shades from the Chanel Méditerranée Summer 2015 collection.  We’ve already seen Terrana and I also have Méditerranée.  This one is the stunning purple of the collection, called Lavanda.

Lets check out some pics!

As you can see above, Lavanda is a lovely vivid purple creme.  I love this, such a great shade and perfect for Summer.  I think I will pop it on my toes next!

Formula is excellent, as are most Chanel cremes, I am smitten!  Wear time, over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped with Essie Gel Shine top coat was excellent.  Three days and no chips!  How happy was I with that!  Those Chanel brushes are just fab and I really love them!

What do you think?  Did you pick up Lavanda?

Sinful Colors – Petal Be The Day

Hey there!  How are things going with you all?  I’m finally back into the swing of things post holiday – its always nice to be home and sleep in your own bed, but lets be honest, as soon as you get back you start planning for your next break.  Or at least we are!

Anyway, I have lots of lovely polishes to share with you all.  Including this beauty from Sinful Colors, part of the Bloomblast collection.  This one is the excellently named Petal Be The Day!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As you can see, Petal Be The Day is a purple and blue glitter topper, the base is actually quite sheer so I put this over a base of Nella Milano Periwinkle Pucker.  The base is ever so slightly tinted so it darkened the base colour somewhat.  Look at all that glitter loveliness!  Cool huh?

It was a bit of a dab and spread approach to application.  Just painting it on meant the gliltter dragged across the nail and all ended up at the free edge.  Not idea.  Hence the dab and spread.  drying time was quite quick, but I also sealed it with a coat of Nails Inc Kensington Top Coat just to keep the glitter from snagging on anything.

I do like this, I am quite into glitters at the moment and the colour combination is really nice!  What do you think?  Let me know in the comments.

Maybelline Color Show – Plum As You Are

Back to the polishes I picked up in the US. This is one from a Maybelline release from late Summer 2014, as part of the Fashion  Rocks collection, so I was quite surprised to see an almost full stand with several of the limited edition items. This is Plum As You Are – love the name!

Lets check out the pics.

So this is a dark plum shade, shot through with a lighter plum shimmer.  You can see the shimmer in the bottle really clearly and there is a *hint* of it on the nail.  Formula for good, this is two coats cover a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped with Essence Better Than Gel Nails.

Shades like this are always lovey, dark, vampy and sultry.  The shimmer, although it is barely there, gives it extra points.

Maybelline Color Show Be Brilliant – Skyline Blue

I’ve taken a quick break from the few polishes I bought in the US to share with you the Maybelline Color Show Be Brilliant polishes that I’ve been wearing.  I previously posted about Spotting these here and here – so do check those posts out too. These are glitter toppers, meaning that they are clear or lightly tinted in the base and packed with glitter.  This is the first one I got on my nails, this is the blue from the set, called Skyline Blue.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I popped Skyline Blue over a base of Wet N Wild Echo Dark (previously seen here) and it works fabulously!  The dark blue really makes the glitters pop and shine, and then when locked in with a shiny top coat, the effect it quite eye catching.

Its a mix of blue, purple and smaller silver pieces.  There is some light blue in there too!  I have one issue with these, and that is the application and formula.  They are quite gloopy, so I’d suggest you check the bottle before you bring it home.  I opened several of the bottles as when I picked them up there were large air pockets at the side and when I rolled the polish it didn’t move.  That was a bit of a warning sign so I opened it and it was exceptionally gloopy.  I picked up a second and it was better but still gloopy.  I checked all the bottles and others I have seen to ensure that it wasn’t just mine.

That said, it is quite easy one the glitter is on the brush to get it onto the nail.  This is one or two passes with the brush so coverage is variable.

I was surprised not to have too many blue/purple glitters in the stash, so this was a welcome addition.  Let me know what you think in the comments!

Thanks for reading!

Halloween Nails with MoYou Halloween Plate

I got one of the Halloween plates, before they all sold out at MoYou.  And I am glad I did as they are all gone!  This is from the Festive collection, which also includes Easter, Christmas and New Year plates.

I did a bit of a mix and match here, using some of the different images and different colours.  I love the spiders on the thumbnail – its a base of Maybelline Color Show Vinyl, Grey Beats, stamped with a variety of Sally Hansen Insta Dri polishes.  All sealed in with a coat of G&G HK Girl.

Happy Halloween!!!

Chanel – Fashions Night Out 2014 Sweet Star

A very quick and dirty post here – the images are not great, but I wanted to share with you quickly the new Chanel FNO nail polish for 2014.  This is Sweet Star and is very limited and available NOW in Selfridges and other Chanel Boutiques.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

So is it silver or is it purple?  I don’t know.  One minute it looks silver with a hint of purple and then its purple with a hint of silver.

Formula – good, this is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped with G&G HK Girl.  Drying time was excellent. It is slightly brushstrokey, but it does dry less obvious and so a good top coat will mask some of that.

I am quite smitten, but as the collector I guess you expected that!

This will set you back £18 if you can find one.  Let me know what you think in the comments.

Essence Nail Candies – Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch

Another Essence Nail Candies for you to see today.  This one is Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch*

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Very similar to the last one, Marshfellows, this one is a tinted nail polish that gives 6 benefits to the nail.  I put two coats over a base of Essence Anti Nail Split Sealer (bought by myself) and didn’t use a top coat.  As you can see above, the nail has a very very sheer tint over, it does even up nail tone and dries rock hard very quickly.  In fact, the formula on this one is lovely, its a shame (to me anyway) that is isn’t more opaque.

This is a great way to provide your nails with polish coverage without being too intense.  The shimmer is very sweet as is the scent but its not overpowering like some of the cheaper scented polishes on the market.  In fact, its quite addictive.

Anyway, you get get Essence from your local Wilkinsons store or online through the Wilkos website.  Would you purchase a nail tint?  Let me know in the comments!
