OPI – Orange You Stylish!

Ahhh, OPI, so many lovely collections coming out recently and very shortly.  Its great for new collections and not great for my wallet….. the image above is from the Coca Cola collection which has been out in the US for a bit longer than its been available in the UK.  This one I am going to show you today is actually a European exclusive called Orange You Stylish! which replaces the glitter edition Fanta polish that came out in the US (which I am also DYING to get my hands on….)

Anyway, pictures!

Yummy yummy!  This one is right up my street – a fabulous orange creme which is just divine.  I love shades like this as regular readers will well know.  This is two coats over a base of Essence Anti Nail Split Sealer and topped with G&G HK Girl to bring on the orange loveliness.

Formula is good, it flows onto the nail and dries evenly.  Levelling is also good.  Its a proper Fanta orange isn’t it?  There are quite a lot of OPI retailers now available in the UK so getting your hands on these shouldn’t be too hard!

Did you pick up anything from the Coca Cola collection?  Or do you have your eye on one of them?  Let me know in the comments!

KIKO Sun Show Nail Lacquer – Shade 473

Whoops, more found images on the camera…. I knew I was missing some.  Anyway, I have a shade form the Sun Shade Nail Lacquer collection from KIKO which I bought at Easter.  This is a stunning purple snappily named 473.

This is lovely, a lightly duochromed purple, ripples and blue moving to purple.  What you see above is three thin coats.  Base is G&G Stuck on Blu! and topped with a good coat of G&G HK Girl.  Formula was average, nothing special to note, but yummy yummy yummy on the nail.

Gosh I had really forgotten how pretty duochromes can be, this one is right up the KEEPER street.

I can no longer see these on the KIKO website so I am guessing they are more than likely sold out.  There were ten in the collection and you can see images of the collection on a previous spotted post here.

What are your favourite duochrome polishes?  Let me know your faves in the comments.

Essie – Hide & Go Chic

I have a lovely blue polish for you today, one that I got with my British Beauty Blogger Beauty Box that I ordered at the end of May (I think), aside from a whole load of lovely items, there was to be a polish from the Essie Spring 2014 range – I was dreading getting something too pastel, so I was delighted to get my box and see this inside.  Lets check it out!

Formula on this was excellent, what you see above it two coats over a base of Essence Anti Split Nail Sealer, topped with last bits of the G&G HK Girl.  Its a dusty denim blue, a great colour for use on its one or under glitter toppers.  I was quite surprised at how much I liked this on my nails.

Essie polishes are now readily available in Superdrug and Boots stores, especially the larger ones that have bigger nail bars.  Not sure what the price point is, but Essie regularly release collections throughout the year.

Let me know what your favourite Essie polishes are in the comments!

Sally Hansen – Glam Fest

Today I have one of the polishes from the Sally Hansen Ltd Edition Spring 2014 Xtreme Wear Color Vibrations Glitter Mania collection (way to go SH for the longest collection name in a while….) For more info on the entire collection, you can see this page on Nouveau Cheap.  This is Glam Fest a multi coloured glitter in a clear base.

Ah, glitter polish.  What’s not to love?  This one has mulit coloured glitters and small silver glitters within it.  I wore this over a gray creme from KIKO so all the glitter is from the bottle. My experience with the recent Xtreme glitters has not been good.  In my opinion, there is too much base coat, meaning that to get more than three bits of glitter, you have to pass over more than once.  Plus if you dare to put it on too thickly, it bubbles quickly.  Thin and slow is the way here and lets be honest, which a cheap drugstore buy, you want quick.  Not slow.

Much as I love this combo, its not something I would reach for in a hurry.  Drying time, even with top coat, too ages……

I didn’t get this in the UK, I bought it via a reseller on eBay along with a number of other polishes and lip balms (don’t have enough of them either) so if you want to take the plunge and you are in the UK, Europe or beynd, eBay is your best bet.  Otherwise for those of you in North America check your local drugstores as there may be a few of these knocking about.

Let me know what you think.  What is your fave glitter top coat?

Maybelline Color Show Crystallize – Rose Chic

Oh dear – its seems I forgot to post this last polish from the Maybelline Color Show Crystallize collection.  We’ve already seen the other three here; Red Excess, Light Up and Nearly Black.  This is the palest of the collection and frankly is probably the reason I had forgotten it.  But lets check out some pics!

What you see above it two coats over a base of G&G Stuck on Blu!  Remember, with textured polishes, you do not need a top coat unless you want to cover up the textured finish.  This one is a very pretty pale rose shade – its not too far from my skin colour so it does give the effect of a nude polish.  A bit of a palette cleaner after all those brash shade I naturally gravitate to.

I have still seen these Crystallize polishes in my local Superdrug, so some stores near you may still have these in stock.  Last time I was on the Superdrug website they were still listed, so its worth checking out your local stores if you fancy this one or any in the collection.

I’m so not over textures!!

New Things I Have Spotted #87 – KIKO

So, being away has been nice.  I’ve been able to visit stores I don’t get to see up north.  But I thought it would be fun to share these new ranges that I saw in the KIKO store that I visited.

First up, Cupcake Nails.  Reduced from £5.90 to £3.50, so I picked up a green (the darker one) and the orange one in front of it.

Then, also reduced, Fancy Top Coat glitter polish.  Lots of colours and varients here.

20140420-134242.jpgFinally, 10 shades in the new Rio Collection, called Sun Show Nails.  Stunning, really light reflective.  £5.90 each. Some of these do remind me of the recent Barry M Aquarium Nails, mainly those at the front.

So, there we go.  Looking forward to sharing my purchases with you shortly.

Catrice – Royal REDding

Very quick post for you today – crazy busy week, but trying to keep up with the blog… this is a polish a colleague at work picked me up on a trip to Europe.  It is one of the new 2014 Shades by Catrice from a range called Crushed Crystal.  You can see them all above, aren’t they pretty??

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As you can see from the pictures above, these are slightly different to some of the other textured shades I have shared with you. From the bottle, everything looks super sparkly.  On the nail, even when dried, it has the appearance of jam.  Yes jam, as in the stuff you put on your toast or in your porridge.  It is very jelly in finish.  Drying time was average.

Remember no top coat with textured shades, so just base coat of G&G Stuck on Blu! here over a layer of Nailtiques 2.  The sparkly bits do try brighter than the body of the polish so they do leap off the nail at you.  I do quite like this, even though its unlike any other textured shade I have tried.

What do you think?  Good, bad or are you just indifferent to textured shades now?  Let me know in the comments.

Sally Hansen – Ripple Effect

Today I have a combo for you that I fell hard for.  I just adore this combination of colours! Lets hit the pics

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is Sally Hansen Ripple Effect from the Spring 2014 Xtreme Wear Color Vibrations Glitter Mania Collection (wow THAT is a mouthful!) of which I have a few coming up over the next few weeks (blame eBay not me, I don’t have a nail polish problem oh no…).  If you want to see the rest of the collection (and guess what else I bought) you can see it over here on Nouveau Cheap.

Anyway, this is two coats of Ripple Effect over a base of Barry M Lychee.  I love the colour combination of the brown with the cool golds in this one.  Not a huge gold fan, but the Lychee base stops its from being too yellow.  The polish is made up from very small brown glitters with mainly gold in small to large sizes, although the press image does make it look more brown – hence my purchase.

Formula was as per most SH Xtreme Glitters, a bit of the gloopy side.  Glitter distribution is a bit uneven hence two coats as its best to do two instead of one thick never drying layer.  I top coated with G&G HK Girl to really seal all those glitters in and give a great shiny finish.

You can pick up Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes in the UK, but only on occasion due we get any of the ltd editions in that range.  And I’ve never seen a line of Xtreme Wear polishes in the mainland UK unless its in a cosmetics discounter, so its exceptionally unlikely that we were ever get these here.  Hence me going a bit nuts of eBay at $4 each…..

What else do you think I should try this over?  Crushing on this hard so its going to be a hard combo to beat!  Let me know in the comments.

Goodness me. I was ambling through my local Boots and the Revlon Nail Polish stand has been completely updated with new collections and a larger collection of Parfumerie (20 shades).  I also don’t think I have ever seen collections that have come out in the US come out so quickly in the UK.

First up, the new Leather and Tweed collection.  Three textured shades, oh Downtown you sexy purple you will be mine come pay day, and a set of three bar glitter toppers.
