Models Own – Chrome Pink

Wowzers, this is one heck of a pink polish.  Its a bit too much colour wise for me, but as we’ve previously discussed, it seemed wrong not to get a full set during the Models Own sale when they were £2.50 each…. but lets check out some pictures before we get into the nitty gritty!

Chrome Pink is one of the Colour Chrome Collection released by Models Own this spring.  This one is certainly one the brightest in the collection and probably my least favourite of the bunch.  But that is because I’m not a fan of pink.  No way.  Not at all and I’m not convinced that the colour does anything for my skin tone.

However, that aside, the formula is good and workable.  It does dry very quickly, so by the time you have done ten fingers (or toes) it will be time to go back over them again.  Quick isn’t the word!

There are ten shades in the Colour Chrome Collection and we’ve already seen Blue, Gold,  Indigo, Mauve, Olive and Rose. We saw silver earlier this week on the blog.  RRP is £4.99 if you pick them up in Superdrug (which is now a Models Own stockist) or order them online directly.

Spotted! Miss Sporty Candy Shine Nail Collection

After I saw the empty Miss Sporty Candy Shine insert, I knew it wouldn’t be long before I saw a full one.  Here it is!   So on the left we have the Peel Off Glitter Base coat, followed by three cremes.  And then the three glitter toppers that I have seen hanging around in the stands for a while now.  Makes sense! Will you be picking these up?  As you can see above, there is a Three for Two offer on in Boots at the moment.

Spotted! Updated Essence stands

I happened into my local Wilcos, just to pick up a few bits you understand, to notice that the Essence stands had been updated.  First up, the new edition Nude collection IMG_7783Then to the right of that, an intriguing new sign…. IMG_7785And beneath the sign, the full range of nude polishes. IMG_7784OOhhhhh, I wonder what the new items will be! Do you have any ideas? Models Own – Chrome Blue

I have been a bit remiss, sorry all.  I meant to share all the Models Own Colour Chrome collections close together and I’ve been swayed by other pretties.  I promise to try harder…. so with that in mind, here is number six – Chrome Blue

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Yep, that is blue alright.  A good blue.  A true blue.  Not denim leaning.  Two easy coats over a base of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Base coat.  As always, speed is an issue with a chrome polish.  Take too long or go over a partially dry area and dragging will occur.  I love how easy they are to remove and apply, meaning if you do change your polish frequently, then its not too time intensive.  I did get a good two solid days out of this before it chipped significantly.  I keep meaning to see what damage a top coat does, but I haven’t the heart to ruin a nice mani… I will try and report back however.

There are ten shades in the Colour Chrome Collection and we’ve already seen Gold,  Indigo, Mauve, Olive and Rose.  RRP is £4.99 if you pick them up in Superdrug (which is now a MOdels Own stockist) or order them online directly.

Spotted! Spring 2015 Rimmel London

I just happened to pop into my local Superdrug when I spotted new Rita Ora shades for Rimmel London. As you can see below, the new Rita Ora shades have cute flowers on the cap so that you can easily spot them amongst the wider range. According to the website, there are twelve shades in this release. Lets take a closer look…..I also saw this rather large stand on the way out, not sure how I missed it on the way in!As well as new Rita Ora shades, I also noticed new inserts in the main Rimmel Nail Bar wall.  These are Sweetie Heart polishes and appear to have a matte finish, five shades here in shades reminiscent of Swizzle Matlow Love Hearts,.Then, I saw these below the Sweetie Heart shades, another range of five polishes called Pearly Queen (nothing on the Rimmel London website yet)It does look as if the whole 60 Second Line has had a revamp, the bottles look like they have had a facelift, but not sure if that includes a formula re-brand or not. I was with a friend of mine, who bought the mint green 60 seconds polish and she was able to coat her nails twice within 5 mins. They were touch proof within 60 seconds and rock hard in about 4-5mins. Impressive.

I’ve not tired them myself yet.  Have you?  if so, do let me know in the comments.  Have you seen these in your local stores yet?  Anything catch your eye?

Sinful Colors – Standing Bloom Only

I may have been a bit naughty and ordered from nail polishes from the US via eBay. I fell in love once I saw the Sinful Colors Bloom Blast collection on Nouveau Cheap (I’m just gonna blame G really…) and I also scored a couple of other polishes from the other collections, although sadly not Shamrocking (and I also missed Love Sprinkles from the valentines collection)

Anyway, this is Standing Bloom Only a lovely juicy orange polish packed to the gills with orange and red glitter in all manner of sizes. It really couldn’t be more me if it tried, as soon as I say pictures, I was a goner.

What you see above is two medium coats over a base of Essence Better Than Gel Nails base and topped off with a thick layer of Nails Inc 45 Second Top Coat. Formula is good and workable, I blobbed a fair bit on the nail before spreading it out in an attempt to get even glitter distribution. I needn’t have worried to be fair as this is packed with glitter and it glides onto the nail evenly.

As I mentioned, I picked this up from a seller on eBay who sells lots of drugstore items internationally, presumably to polish addicts like me and US nationals living abroad. I was good, I only got six in total, and lets be clear, it could have been a LOT WORSE!! Are you over glitter containing cremes? I thought I was, and then this collection has just done it for me!

Models Own – Chrome Gold

Still going through these lovely Models Own Colour Chrome polishes, the whole collection of ten is really quite something.  This one is Chrome Gold, and to be honest, I only picked it up to make the sent complete – ever the polish hoarder!

Lets look at some pics

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As you can see, I really struggled to get a good picture of the gold. Its quite a pale shade, akin to straw, so its not fully blingy and in your face.

Formula was consistent with others in the range that we have seen in the last couple of weeks. This is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 with no top coat.

You can pick up these polishes from the  Models Own website or go directly to  the Colour Chrome Collection page.

Model Own – Chrome Cerise

We are still working our way though the Colour Chrome Collection from Models Own.  Its a series of 10 chrome shades and because there were on sale, I bought them all…. we’ve already seen Indigo, Mauve, Olive and Rose.  Lets go straight to the pictures

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Wow, this is what I call a POP of colour. This is by far one of the brights shades in the entire collection. its really shiny and its just the perfect Cerise colour, it does look like cooked cherries to me.

Again, the formula was good. Work quick, even if you only get on pass in one each nail and then go back to fill in the sides. You application will have less brushstrokes. I haven’t used a top coat here, and to be honest, I have tried a top coat on these. I do use a base coat, if nothing else it even out the nail bed as I have the odd ridge here and there. It does cling to your nails so if you have a ridge problem, you may want to apply this over a ridge smoothing base or even a clear polish layer first.

A note on the brush, its a wide flat brush, not unlike that we’ve seen in Dior polishes and I think its probably a bit similar to the new Barry M brush (I’ve not seen it or used it, so I can’t comment). Either way, I do find it quite easy to use. And on smaller fingers, its one swipe and you are done!

Let me know what you think in the comments, have you picked any of these up yet? How do you plan on wearing them?

Chanel – Intemporel

So there is a new Chanel collection out RIGHT NOW, in a limited number of stores and, of course, it is itself limited edition. L’Intemporel De Chanel can been seen on the US Chanel.com website here and consists of a gorgeous eye shadow palette, styled on the classic Chanel chain bag, along with a silver polish, again reflecting the chain of the classic bag.

Much as I love the shadows, and I was seriously thinking about purchasing them, I (typically) got all grabby hands about the polish.  I love a silver.  And I love Chanel.  It was a perfect match.  Lets look at the pics!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The polish is just the perfect shade of silver, its realy stunning and so bright on the nail.  Formula was excellent, it was almost a one coater. The black cap pops off and you have a stumpy black lid that you hold to apply the polish.  The brush is the standard Chanel brush, thin but pliable.

What you see above is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped off with a coat of Nails Inc Kensington Top Coat.  Unlike the chrome polishes we have been seeing of late, the application of a top coat does not effect the finish of the polish.

I’ve worn this for three days and Ive only just chipped it.  So colour me impressed!

I paid £18 for this polish and I picked it up at the Chanel counter at Selfridges Exchange Square in Manchester.  It is also available at a limited number of other stores.  if you are a Chanel collector, this one is a no brainer, but there are some fabulous (and cheaper) silver shades out there.
