Nanacoco – French Macaron

I’m still bringing you some of the polishes I picked up from the US.  This one is another one for my swap with G of Nouveau Cheap and is another Nanacoco polish.

This one is lovely teal on teal, with a pale teal base packed with darker teal glitter.  Its a great colour combination as it really adds interest to the nail.  What you see here is two thickish coats applied b the dab and spread technique.  I was Sally Hansen Big Peel Off Base coat and then topped of with Nails Inc Kensington Top Coat.

Again, its a stinky polish, but if you can handle that then I think the payoff is worth it.  The colour is super flattering on the nail.

What do you think?  I’ve got quite into the glitter polishes I have again, thanks to this peel off base coat.

Maybelline Color Show Vinyl – Teal The Deal

Final polish in the new limited edition Maybelline Color Show Vinyl polishes to share with you today.  Out of the four, this is my least favourite, but its actually quite a good shade for autumn.  Bright and yet not neon.  Lets look at some pics of Teal the Deal!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As with the other three shdaes, this is two coats over a base of Essence Anti Nail Split Sealer.  On a side note, I have noticed that my nails are peeling again, so its back out with the Nailtiques 2 and I may even go polish free for a couple of days just to kick start the treatment.

Anyway, formula is OK.  I will be honest, out of all four, this one is the worst.  It does drag and it dries very quick, making it easier to crate drag.  But it does well with two coats and it does cling to your nail bed.  Look at that colour, a tealy blue shade, that is quite lively but not too in your face.  Its a good autumn colour for when you aren’t quite ready to quit the brightness for vampy colours!

Have you seen these out and about in polish land?  They should be on a shelf near you now!

Ahhh how exciting, I have finally seen the new Maybelline Color Show Vinyl Nail polishes in store, and I had to grab them to show you very quickly!  These are all two coats with no base or top – you can see how they dry to a vinyl effect  Its a bit similar to others out there and its a cross between matte and shiny.

First up, Teal the Deal.

Essence Effect Nail Polish – Skyfall

More Essence lovelies for you today – this one came from a Dutch work colleague on one of her trips homes.  This is Skyfall and is part of the Effect Nail Polish range from Essence.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is a lovely teal green/blue, that dries to an effect not unlike the now very common textured polishes that are readily available.  Skyfall dries to a slightly matte but delicate textured finish.  I do like the colour.  As with all textured polishes, no top coat required unless you want to use top coat to change the look of the polish.

I think I need to be careful with what textured shades I pick up in future this is quite similar to another one I have that is more glittery (so its not the same at all!) but I seem to be attracted to this this shade in textures.  But thats not a bad thing, I am look at it!

Have you got or tried any of the Essence Nail Effect Polishes?  Let me know in the comments 🙂

Essence – Keep Calm and Go To The Beach

I am a wee bit behind with myself at the moment, so a quick post and run!  This is one of the polishes I picked up from the new Essence stand in Manchester.  More on that here!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is a sparkle sand polish from the Beach Cruisers collection, of which there were four – the others being gold, peach and red.  Formula was good what you see here is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2.  Wear was amazing.  I wore this for the whole weekend and then some as we were seeing family.  As a bonus, removal was easy too! I wouldn’t say it was super sparkly, but the colour is great and is bright without being an in your face neon.

Essence is now out and hitting Wilko stores across the UK as well as the pop up stores in London and Manchester.  You can find them on Facebook their main website or Twitter. Certainly worth checking out as the price point is exceptionally accessible!

Let me know what you think in the comments!

Wet N Wild Mega Rocks – Slap The Bass

Another polish from the number I picked up in the US.  This is one of the new Wet N Wild Megarocks range, a set of glitters in a clear base.

I popped this one over two coats of KIKO 328, the greatest concrete gray in my collection.  Slightly issues with application, I found as it was drying the glitter would start to slide off my nails.  And I hadn’t put huge thick coats on.  So that was a bit annoying as I kept dripping glitter onto my carpet….. the glitter Vs clear polish level isn’t great, so maybe a series of thin coats with a few bits of glitter to build it up.

Anyway, once it dried it was fine and I do love the aqua/teal colour.  What is your favourite glitter topper?  Let me know in the comments

Maybelline Color Show Vintage Leather – 207 Turquoise Temptation

Today I have something from the new Maybelline Color Show Line, called Vintage Leather.  This is another effect polish, where to dries, leaving the nail textured.  This is one of the four colours available in the UK, which we saw in a recent edition of Spotted!

This one is called Turquoise Temptation.  It is quite dark in colour and does have very small flakies within the polish.

Right, cards on the table.  This has an awful consistency.  Its gloopy and hard to work with.  I paint my nails nearly every day and I struggled no end.  It dries almost instantaneously.  You may need to do your nails in stripes.  I am a three stripes a nail kinda girl, but the third stripe of polish on my nail would pull up the polish that I had placed on seconds before.  The colour is nice, a good solid teal leaning blue.  Once dry you can see the little flakies on the nail but its not overwhelming.  It does seem to cling to every bump and line on your nail, so next time I will put a base coat on.

However, I stuck with it.  I did two coats on all my fingers, but if you did it thick enough (and didn’t drag any polish off your nails) you might get away with one well placed coat.  No top coat as per other textured polishes.  I am concerned that the polish will be drying out in the bottle as I am doing my nails.  But this is the first one I have tried, so lets see what the remainder are like.

What do you think of the Vintage Leather effect – An effect too far?

Barry M – Watermelon

Today I have the first Barry M Gelly Nail Effect that kickstarted by slight addition.  This is watermelon and was a gift from my bestie for my recent birthday.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Formula on this on was good, not as perfect as Passion Fruit we saw the other day, this was two coats.  It seemed to dry quite quickly on the nail so I needed to move quickly and not faff about getting it on.  However, it levelled really well and dried beautifully.  I based with G & G Stuck on Blu! and then to prolong wear and shine added a top coat of G & G HK Girl.

Watermelon is a dark teal polish, its very similar in colour to one of my all time fav colours, Khloe had a Little Lam Lam, which as that deep rich tone to is as well.  I think these Gelly Nail Effects are absolutely fabulous value for money at £3.99 each.

OK, we have one more Gelly coming up this week, any guesses??

Scofflaw – David Bowie’s Bulge

Image from Something To See or Hear

Oh my.  This is one of my lemmings that I just had to squash!  I am a MASSIVE Bowie fan, huge, have been for years.  And years.  And then some more years.

This little beauty I have to show you is from Scofflaw a US based Indie brand and is cheekily called David Bowie’s Bulge!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This one takes inspiration from the cover of the excellent album Aladdin Sane.  See the red and the teal, you get this in spades in this polish.  The base is akin to an iced raspberry colour laced with teal and red glitters.  Its great, such a fun colour and the glitter just brings the pay off home.  I love this so very much.

I did three coats over a layer of Essie Millionails and then top coated with Essence Studio Nails Better Than Gel Nails High Gloss Top Coat.  This mani has been wearing like iron.  Iron I tell you.  Its not even showing tip wear after three days.  Bloody wonderful.  Formula was good, two coats bring the raspberry base to an opaqueness but I did three to bring on more glitter.  The glitter is well distributed throughout the polish

There are several ways you can get your mitts on some of the Scofflaw lovelies… if you are in the US, you can check out the Esty Shop.  If you are international (outside of the US) you will need to stalk out Llarowe.  More information on future releases and sneak peeks can be found of the Facebook page or check out Pinterest.  I picked up mine from Llarowe, super speedy shipping but I did have to stalk the shop to get hold of this.

Now, what other Rock Star polishes would you like to see?  Jagger’s Jack Flash??

Nicole by OPI – Khloe Had a Little Lam Lam

I am a VERY lucky girl. I’m bumping this post up to today because I have some of the best polish buddies ever.

Let me tell you a quick tale – I’m in a polish group on Facebook, all women who love polish in all its forms very very much.  They are all dolls.  In this group, every so often we have a secret bunny polish swap.  In our case, two people coordinate and allocate Secret Bunnies to people.  Then you go out and buy stuff based on their likes, a quick questionnaire, wish lists and daily questions.  Its SUCH fun.

My Secret Bunny turned out to to be my Polish Picking Princess.  I am thrilled beyond words with her thoughtfulness with her package of goodies.  Not only was there polish, and LOTS of them, but make up and pedicure products.  I am spoiled.  (but I love it!)

In the package of goodies is the polish I have for you today.  I put it on as soon as I could yesterday when I received, opened and has swooned over my new pretties.

This, my dears, is the polish to DIE for.  Khloe Had a Little Lam Lam, one of the Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors.

I cannot believe how amazing this polish in.  Firstly, its a dark teal, creme.  With a real depth to it.  Its a remarkable colour and unlike anything else I own.  The formula is amazeballs.  It went on like butter, dried well and evenly.  In fact, this is, hands own, the best Nicole polish I have ever used.  I just love it.  Words cannot express what a joy is was to use this polish.  What you see in the images above is three thin coats.  Perfect coverage, perfect.

I have made a change to my nail care routine.  I have swapped to Seche Retain as my base, I was using Essie Billionails for a while, I still like it but my nails are just how I like them and Billionails is more of a treatment than a base coat.  Retain does what is says on the bottle, Retains your lovely nails.  But I love Retain.  And, thanks to my Secret Polish Picking Princess Bunny, I have a NEW top coat in Hong King Girl.  This is da bomb.  Like Seche, but awesomer.  Seriously.  The ladies in my groups get theirs from Jill at Glisten and Glow, I’m not sure if she ships internationally, but worth getting in touch to check because she is just lovely.

And another big thank you to my Secret Polish Picking Princess Bunny!

Nicole can be purchased from many a retailer in the US, but here in the UK, your best bet is Lena White the UK OPI Authorised reseller.  They retail for £9.

So, what do you think?  I’m smitten.  Do you have any of the Kardashian Kolors?
