Rose Gold Flamingo Nails

Today’s mani was something that I did for my last day in my old job – I’ve been gone for three weeks now and it still feels odd.  Anyway, fo rmy last day I picked up this gorgeous flamingo scarf in M&S of all places.  I was struck by its rose gold flamingos and then I remembered one of my Moyou plates has a flamingo design on.  And viola!

This is a base of Cult Nails Tempest, my current go to white stamped with the flamingos from Moyou Tropical plate 04 in Models Own Chrome Rose.

I LOVE THIS – I was thrilled with my stamping and all 10 nails looked awesome!  Base was Nailtiques 2 and topped off with Nails Inc Kensington Top coat.  Love love love!  I think I will do this again over black – bloody love it!

Black and White Dotty Nails

I’m not one for nail art, I’m not particularly artistic and I’m worried about doing something that looks awful.  But the one thing it appears I can do is DOTS!!  Yay, dots are cool.  Seriously cool.  I had a dotting tool kit that I picked up off eBay for pennies, literally, you can buy something similar here. But you can also use several other things, like hair pins or toothpicks.

Anyway, this is my first “nail art” share,  I used one coat of Cult Nails Tempest – this is my favourite go to white polish.  Seriously awesome and flawless in one coat.  And then used a couple of my dotting tools with my Wet N Wild Black Creme.  I then topped with Glisten and Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

20130919-194448.jpgI’ll be honest, I’m more thrilled with these than I probably should be.  I’m delighted with how they turned out.

What do you think?  Are dots your thing?

China Glaze – It’s a Trap-eze!

Are you ready for some glitter loveliness??  Today I have China Glaze It’s a Trap-eze! to show you, this was sent to me by my lovely Canadian Polish buddy, Adina, from Blue Collar Red Lipstick.  This is from the Worlds Away Cirque Du Soleil Collection that came out in late 2012.  There were 12 polishes in this collection, including a couple of glitters.  Anyway, let’s go!

Having spent a lot of time recently removing glitter from my poor abused nails, I decided early on that a layer approach was probably best.  I went straight to the best white polish in my collection, which is Tempest from Cult Nails.  This is a great white polish, goes on smooth and levels well, making it ideal on its own or as a base colour.

I then used just one medium thickness coat of It’s a Trap-ese, yes just one coat.  Look at that glitter!!  Completely in love.  I am a little obsessed about white polishes with glitter at the moment, plus I needed something I could wear for a couple of days.  This was perfect for that.  I prepped by nails by base coating with Essence Better Than Gel Nails Base coat.  I do like this product, dries quickly and seems to provide great anchorage for polish.  In fact, I reckon its getting very popular as my recent trip to Holland turned up a massive blank when trying to buy more bottles!!

Anyway, the polish itself it white tinged, and I know from other blogs that if you layer it carefully you can get opacity within two or three coats.  I think it really shines when you layer it, such as this.  It dries quickly and its packed full of glitter in lots of different colours, orange, red, green, yellow, blue, silver and white.  It appears to be in two sizes, small and large.  I sealed the whole thing tight with a thick coat of Seche Vite, but it wasn’t too bumpy at all before the Seche.

What do you think?  Are you over or into white polish and glitter??

This is the second anniversary set, consisting of three polishes;  Tempest (white), Fetish (matte/leather effect black) and Blaze (sparkle central).  What you can see above is a mix of all three.  And colour me impressed.  I am in L.O.V.E  What a formula, one coats all.  Although I did two coats of everything other than Blaze just to ensure I had a great base on which to show off Blaze.  The white polish, Tempest, is particularly impressive.  It is smooth and creamy, just an amazing formula.  It dries quickly and is super snow white.  Love it.  Fetish was a nice surprise.  Obviously, its a black polish.  But its not a creme.  It dries slightly matte and looks like leather.  Again, one coat was almost perfection.  I love how this looks, its fabulous.  Blaze, the final of the three, is a mix of orange, gold and reddish glitter in a clear base.  I put it over all my nails and wow does it sparkle.

I used Essie all in one Base with a Seche Vite Top Coat.  Obviously, if you top coat over a matte polish it does go more glossy and loses that leather look.

I bought mine as a set, which was cheaper than buying them all individually.  Postage to the UK was also reasonable and my order was dispatched and with me in 8 days.  You can now purchase any of the set individually for $12 each and none of them are flagged up as limited edition.  But if you like them, I strongly urge you to take the plunge.  I have been delighted with mine.

I can’t wait to try even more Cult Nails, what should I get first??
