Kilo Cupcake Nails – 650 Peach

I have a bit of an older polish to share with you today, this one I picked up over the Summer and forgot to upload the pics…. d’oh!  Anyway, I’ve seen a few of these knocking about on blog sales so thought it was worth posting anyway.  This is shade 650, otherwise known as Peach.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is an orange leaning peach shade, with hints of red within it.  It does dry quite rough, a bit like hundreds and thousands, so probably why they are called Cupcake shades.

Formula was OK, easy to work with, but it dries quickly and can start to go a bit gloopy on the brush.  So just a bit of care is needed.  This it two coats over a base of G&G Stuck on Blu!  No top coat otherwise that would chnage the look.  I did quite like this when I had it on my nails – it was summery and fresh.  Bizarrely it picked up all sorts of dirt because of the rough finish so by the end of the day one or two of the nails had obvious black bits on.  But maybe I’m just a messy so and so.

Anyway, I’m still loving a good textured shade!  Let me know if you picked up any of these over the summer!

P2- Joyful

I have another of my of most loved P2 sand style polishes for today.  This one is called Joyful and is a lovely spring colour, but something I think you could probably get away with at any time of the year when you want to wear coral.  Lets check out some pictures.

Formula was just lovely with this one, you could almost get away with one coat, but I chose to do two so that I had good even coverage.  It was very easy to work with and just a delight really.  Once it dries is has a very gentle textured finish and isn’t at all weird.  In fact, it feels quite nice to touch.

I wore this over a base of Nailtiques 2, and as with all textured polishes, no top coat required unless you want to.  Wear on these textured shades is much better than those matte ones!

Anyway, let me know what you think in the comments!  What are your favourite textured shades?

Essence – Be My Lucky Star

Today I have a textured polish for you today – this one is Be My Lucky Star from Essence.  They call this a sparkle sand effect.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is two coats over a base of Essence Anti Split nail sealer.  No top coat so you can see the nail effect.  The effect is silver without being too much,  the effect does remind me of the Zoya Pixie polishes as the glitter when it dries is a couple of different sizes.  Formula is good, it doesn’t try too quickly, so care is needed when waiting for it to dry as it stay tacky for a while.  This is nothing out of the ordinary with textured polishes.

The Essence range changes regularly, including trend editions like this. The range changes often and reflects things like colour of the year and recently has included more textured polishes in the line up. Find out more on the Facebook page or main website.

*Disclosure: This product was sent to me for review but this does not influence the opinions expressed in this blog which are entirely my own.

Spotted! New Bourjois, 2True Go Matte Top Coat & GOSH Shade of Grey Stardusy Polishes

Alrightly, a number of updated stands to share with you today.  First up, new insert in the Bourjois stand for nail polish only.20140701-203632-74192207.jpg As you can see above, three sections to the new insert.  On the left Colour Block – no new shades.

20140701-203641-74201023.jpgIn the middle section, glitter Texture with two new shades.  Oh My Gold and Champagne Shower.  Its worth noting that the shade above ISN’T Champagne Shower, but just one put there to made the stand look full.  I couldn’t find it anywhere.

IMG_6039And then the final section on the right – pretty pastels, with one new shade Peace and Mauve (not pictured)

20140701-203721-74241926.jpg

Then I saw this (above) in the 2True stand.  Looks like room for some other bits around the go… matte top coat.

20140701-203732-74252926.jpgFinally, a new edition to the GOSH stand hot on the heels of the Facebook Favourites!  Now I do think that these polishes do not belong in this stand (but they work as they are grey-ish) so looks like a range of grey polishes to come along.   These ones are called Stardust.

20140701-203751-74271269.jpgHere are the names of the new shades.

20140701-203748-74268961.jpgAnd then I can only apologise fort he blurry picture – I was trying to be discrete whilst minding a child and holding several hair products…. don’t ask! But you can see the glittery goodness.  Maybe another textured polish??

Anyway, that is all for this Spotted!  Anything catch your eye?  Let me know in the comments!

Essence Effect Nail Polish – Skyfall

More Essence lovelies for you today – this one came from a Dutch work colleague on one of her trips homes.  This is Skyfall and is part of the Effect Nail Polish range from Essence.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is a lovely teal green/blue, that dries to an effect not unlike the now very common textured polishes that are readily available.  Skyfall dries to a slightly matte but delicate textured finish.  I do like the colour.  As with all textured polishes, no top coat required unless you want to use top coat to change the look of the polish.

I think I need to be careful with what textured shades I pick up in future this is quite similar to another one I have that is more glittery (so its not the same at all!) but I seem to be attracted to this this shade in textures.  But thats not a bad thing, I am look at it!

Have you got or tried any of the Essence Nail Effect Polishes?  Let me know in the comments 🙂

Essence – Keep Calm and Go To The Beach

I am a wee bit behind with myself at the moment, so a quick post and run!  This is one of the polishes I picked up from the new Essence stand in Manchester.  More on that here!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is a sparkle sand polish from the Beach Cruisers collection, of which there were four – the others being gold, peach and red.  Formula was good what you see here is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2.  Wear was amazing.  I wore this for the whole weekend and then some as we were seeing family.  As a bonus, removal was easy too! I wouldn’t say it was super sparkly, but the colour is great and is bright without being an in your face neon.

Essence is now out and hitting Wilko stores across the UK as well as the pop up stores in London and Manchester.  You can find them on Facebook their main website or Twitter. Certainly worth checking out as the price point is exceptionally accessible!

Let me know what you think in the comments!

Maybelline Color Show Crystallize – Rose Chic

Oh dear – its seems I forgot to post this last polish from the Maybelline Color Show Crystallize collection.  We’ve already seen the other three here; Red Excess, Light Up and Nearly Black.  This is the palest of the collection and frankly is probably the reason I had forgotten it.  But lets check out some pics!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

What you see above it two coats over a base of G&G Stuck on Blu!  Remember, with textured polishes, you do not need a top coat unless you want to cover up the textured finish.  This one is a very pretty pale rose shade – its not too far from my skin colour so it does give the effect of a nude polish.  A bit of a palette cleaner after all those brash shade I naturally gravitate to.

I have still seen these Crystallize polishes in my local Superdrug, so some stores near you may still have these in stock.  Last time I was on the Superdrug website they were still listed, so its worth checking out your local stores if you fancy this one or any in the collection.

I’m so not over textures!!

Essence – Heart Explosion

Don’t you just hate finding pics on your camera you have no idea were there?  Clearly changing my polish (nearly) daily has addled my brain.  In my defense I do remember wearing it, just not taking pictures!  This is an Essence polish that a Dutch friend picked up for me when she popped home for a trip.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As you can see above Heart Explosion is a really shiny, bright tomato red.  It is one of the effects polishes meaning its a bit like a textured polish.  Its not super textured like some, its a bit more gentle and only slightly bumpy.  It does have glitter pieces in it, so it catches the light quite magnificently.  I wore this with no top coat over a base of G&G Stuck on Blu! over a layer of Nailtiques 2.

What do you think?  Still loving textures as much as I do?
