Sinful Colors – Flower Power

I keep finding sets of images from earlier this year, not sure how I missed some of these.  Anyway, today I have one of the summer editions from Sinful Colors, which I have seen knocking about on eBay and blog sales.  I still think its worth sharing as its a cutie!

As you can see this is a pink polish packed with glitter.  I’m wearing two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped off with Nails Inc Kensington Top Coat.  It was great and fun for summer, I think the colour combination works really well, even if it is pink!

Sinful Colors – Fierce Fiesta

I’ve got lots of polishes to share with you that I picked up from the US.  I’ve got a few posts to catch up, so I’m not going to write reams and ream of words for you to plough through!

I really liked this yellow/red/pink combo, although my hubby said it was quite gross and he didn’t like it at all.  This is one coat of the Sinful Colors over a yellow creme.  It was the splodge and spread technique to spread the glitter out over the nail.  it bubbled a bit too as it dried, probably because I put a bit much on the nail.  But you can only see this if you were up close and personal to my fingers!

As I mentioned above, I picked this up in the US earlier this year – so it may or may not be still knocking about in stores.  There are a few places selling them on eBay so if you like the look of this – or indeed have ideas for a better colour combination that you want to try out!

Sinful Colors – Navy I Do

It must be the slightly cooler weather here (who am I kidding, its been cold here for months and we have had no discernible summer!) but I find myself turning to slightly darker, more autumnal shades.  And I’m loving it, I’ve been puling out some older ones, pushing those pesky glitters to the back of the drawer in my hunt for darker, richer colours.  This one ticked all those boxes – so lets look at some pictures!

This is one seriously dark polish – wow!  I picked this up in the US in a Walgreens, I found it stuck behind the back of the display and I knew it was coming home with me!  This is two coats, over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped with Nails Inc Kensington Top Coat.  Two coats provides excellent coverage and the polish dried quite quickly and levels well.

What was also nice, is that removal didn’t result in my cuticles being stained or my fingers going blue.  Huge bonus points here!

Let me know what you think in the comments .  Have you started the transition to more autumnal shades?  Let me know what you’ve been wearing on your fingers!

Sinful Colors – Rose Dust

I wanted to share this post with you as I note from a number of US Blogs that this Sinful Colors shade can now be found in some of the new Autumn/Fall ranges/displays.  I got mine earlier this year from the lovely G who oversees the excellent Nouveau Cheap (do visit if you haven’t already!)

As the name implies, this is a rose pink shade, not super pink but dusky pink.  With a hint of hidden shimmer that leans silver.  now i really didn’t expect to like this on my skin tone as much as I do, but I do.  Formula was excellent and workable.  Two coats here over a base of Nailtiques 2 and topped off with Clear As Air Wet n Wild Top coat (WHICH I ADORE AND I WANT MORE OF THEM!).  I honestly think its the silver shimmer that makes me love this – that a G picking it out for me!

Anyway, I believe it popping up in the Oh Snap! Sinful Colors display for those of you in the US.

Let me know what you think in the comments, would you wear this shade?

Wet N Wild Megalast – Sun Settle Down

I think we all now by now that I love a good orange polish, this is no exception and comes from the same range, Summer 2015 California Dreaming as the other Megalast Sky Me Mine I shared a few weeks ago.  You can see most of the range here on Nouveau Cheap.  And what isn’t there to love with Wet N Wild and their Megalast range – they are very reasonable and of (usually) good quality.

This is a lovely creamsicle orange colour, really perfect for summer and I love this shade.  Formula was good, the Megalast brush is a joy to work with.  Its easy to use and because it is tapered, makes getting near but not on your cuticle simple.  This is two coats over a case of Nailtiques 2, topped off with Nails Inc Kensington Top Coat sealing it in.

What do you think?  Do you have a favourite creamy orange colour?  Let me know in the comments.

Wet N Wild Megalast – Sky Me Mine

OOohhhhh for those of you that have been around these parts for a long time, then you know that this girl loves some Wet N Wild Megalast polishes. Like in a bad bad way. I first got my hands on the new-er style bottles through swapping, back when getting polish in the mail was OK. But we know it not and we never post it internationally.

So imagine my delight, whilst in the US to come across some of the new Megalast releases!  This is from the California Dreaming collection, seen here on Nouveau Cheap. I also grabbed one of the new silver bottle top coats – which we are using below.

Look at that blue!  Its so bright.  And lovely. And not a dark vibrant blue!  I love this, such a wearable summer colour!

One of the best things about the Megalast polishes are the brushes, which are similar to the Dior brush in that they are tapered and allow you to get really close to the cuticle without touching it.  They are flat and rounded.  Love them.  I think you also get them in the newer Sally Hansen CSM range (can anyone confrim??).  You can see some brush pics on this blog post by A Girl, Obsessed from 2012.

Anyway, formula was OK, two coats provides opacity.  The top coat however BLEW MY SOCKS OFF!  I love this.  Quick drying, albeit a bit stinky, its my second current fave after my Nails Inc Kensington Top Coat.  Its a steal for whatever I paid for it (probably $3 plus tax)

Sinful Colors – Ring The Belini

Just posting this quickly, currently up to my eyeballs in sorting packing and getting the house today before we go away for our family holiday.  I’m so excited about holidays!!!  I love everything about them; airports, duty free shopping, flying etc etc

That aside, I have one of the US Sinful Colors shades I picked up from eBay.  Its a great way to get your hands on some lovely US polishes that we are never going to see on UK shores.  This one is an awesome jelly orange called Ring The Belini, part of the Citrus Twist collection!  Lets take a look!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is four thin coats to build up the colour.  When it first went on, I though it was going to take forever to build up the colour.  But it does work, the inbuilt orange flakies really pop over the juicy orange jelly and provide great shine to the nail.  I’ve based here with Nailtiques 2 and topped with Nails Inc Kensington Top Coat.

And you all know how much I love an orange, so this is a no brainer for me.  I love it!

Sally Hansen – Chilli Flakes

Another one of my slightly naughty eBay purchase to share here.  I’d been eying this up on lot of US blogs, and I do love a shard glitter.  This is called Chilli Flakes and was part of the limited edition release of Complete Salon Manicure.  Its made up of lots of shards in red, pink, gold and some silver in a clear base.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

What you see here is one or two coats of the shard glitter over a base of Maybelline Color Show Greyze in Love, a fab slate grey which I think really helps make the colours of the shard pop.  The shards are red, pink, orange and pink… varying sizes and they do behave themselves and lie flat.  The effect does remind me of my beloved Revlon Moon candy polishes.

Love it love it love it!  Anyway, I think that Models Own have some glitter toppers that have shard like pieces in if you fancy something similar… let me know what you think and what you might have in your stash that is similar.

Sally Hansen Color Foil – Sterling Silver

I thought I’d use the next couple of blog posts to catch up with some US Nail Polishes that I have recently been sent.  Up first, I have one for you that I have worn a lot, particularly on my toes, and I have actually loaned this bottle to several friends as they all went a bit gaga for it.  So I give you Sterling Silver, one of the new Sally Hansen Color Foils, part of a huge range of new shiny goodness!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

We all  know that foil polishes can be a menace. They dry quickly even whilst you are on the first brush stroke meaning that you can often see your brush strokes.  AND top coat makes them shrink onto the nail in a seriously unattractive way.  That said, I love this and I love it hard.  This is some silver polish.

Formula is runny but not unworkable.  It goes onto the nail quite fluidly but it dries fast.  What you see above it two coats over a base of G&G Stuck on Blu!  I probably should have used more of a ridge filling polish to provide more of a smooth base, but there you go.  No top coat here.  Without top coat, I probably get a day out of it.  I did top up the tips and keep it on an extra day and that worked quite well.

As I mentioned this is a US Edition polish.  I have noticed several Sally Hansen lines, other than Complete Salon Manicure and Insta Dri, popping up in pound stores in the UK.  most recently, the Spring Jelly polishes from the Triple Shine line have been spotted.  You can get the odd one on eBay or perhaps get a US based buddy to send them over.  I can never quite understand why the SH range is so truncated in the UK, we’ve got a few bits and some glitter toppers, but I think they would make a killing if they broadened the range.

Anyway, rant over!  Let me know what you think in the comments!

Sally Hansen – Twinkle Toes-ty

Super quick post today – flying around all over the place with work, so just a quick update

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is Sally Hansen Twinkle Toes-ty from the Bling in the New Year collection.  I have had it a while but done nothing with it.  This is one coat over a base of Barry M Gelly Lychee, my go to nude shade.  Its a pinky goldy glitter bomb – and its quite yummy!

Base – G&G Stuck on Blu! Top Coat – G&G HK Girl.  These can be purchased from Rainbow Connection in the UK or direct in the US from Glisten & Glow and the lovely Jill.

As an aside, at the weekend I picked up Midnight Glitz from this collection from my local Poundworld, so definitely worth checking out asap!
