Sally Hansen – Twinkle Toes-ty

Super quick post today – flying around all over the place with work, so just a quick update

This is Sally Hansen Twinkle Toes-ty from the Bling in the New Year collection.  I have had it a while but done nothing with it.  This is one coat over a base of Barry M Gelly Lychee, my go to nude shade.  Its a pinky goldy glitter bomb – and its quite yummy!

Base – G&G Stuck on Blu! Top Coat – G&G HK Girl.  These can be purchased from Rainbow Connection in the UK or direct in the US from Glisten & Glow and the lovely Jill.

As an aside, at the weekend I picked up Midnight Glitz from this collection from my local Poundworld, so definitely worth checking out asap!

Maybelline Color Show Brocades – Woven Skyline

So earlier, this week I showed you Rosy Rosettes, the red glitter bomb from this limited edition collection. This one is the black and silver glitter bomb known as Woven Skyline.

I wore this one over a coat of Color Show Oynx Black, as again I was unsure if it would be opaque or not.  Application was a bit dollop and spread to ensure it coated the entire nail.  I used two coats of Woven Skyline for the pictures above – as before with a base coat of Glisten & Glow Stuck on Blu! and a top coat of HK Girl.

As I mentioned before in the US, the Brocades line had 10 polishes in it, whereas we have 4.  Each of recent limited editions, such as the Polka Dots and Vintage Leather, has been 4.  I’d like to try some of the other US ones too – who knkows what I will find on my trip stateside.

Its super pretty, a great mix of black polish and black and silver glitter.  But, again, its not the best wearer in the world.  It chipped very quickly and started to peel off.  Its almost as if it goes very brittle and then just shatters off.  Such as shame as its right up my street.

You can pick up Color Show polishes from most drugstores and some larger supermarkets.  RRP for the Brocades is £3.99 but at the moment there are a number of 3 for 2 offers in both Boots and Superdrug.

Maybelline Color Show Brocades – Rosy Rosettes

You may recall my excitement over the Color Show Brocade Nail Polishes in a recent Spotted! post – I went a bit crazy and bought all four and I was super happy about them.

So, as you can see this one is red based glitter bomb of a polish.  There are a couple of glitter sizes in this polish, in both silver and red.  So its really does sparkle and catch the light.  You get 7ml in these color show bottles and I quite like the fact these limited editions have the names of the range on lid, its cute and means you always know which ones go together.

Formula was a tad on the gloopy side and looking at it on the brush, I wasn’t sure if it was going to be opaque so I did a layer of Nicole by OPI Keeping Up with Santa, a gorgeous lush red.  It was a bit of dab and spread effect to get an even coat over the nail, you can see two in the pictures above.  I based with Glisten & Glow Stuck on Blu! and topped with HK Girl, which did provide a super glossy top coat.

Now for the bad news – this is not a polish with any kind of staying power.  Within a couple of hours, I had a significant chip going on one nail, shortly followed by a second.  I have heard similar things from other bloggers, but I will try it again shortly with a different base and top combination and see if that has any effect.

New Things I have Spotted #42 – Bourjois Winter 2013 & Maybelline Color Show

Just  couple of quick updates for you today, first new new Bourjois winter 2013.  I think the signage is telling us the purple is the new shade.  I’m not sure.

And secondly, Maybelline Color Show polishes.  First time I have seen these outside the US.
