Now we all know that yellow can be a huge nightmare to apply, it can go on streaky or dry unevenly.  I am thrilled to say that neither of these apply here.  Formula is better than I had expected and what you see about is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2.  And no top coat.  See how shiny that polish is?  Yes it really is like that.  I do love these Nella cremes, the formula is excellent and its almost as good as a perfect Chanel creme.  You cannot go far wrong!

Look how bright this polish is, wow!

In their own words ‘Made in France, Nella Milano nail lacquers are colour rich and long-lasting, making it very easy to keep your nails naturally chic at all times.  Nella Milano stands for effortlessly stylish, elegant and fashionable.  There is a Nella for any mood and personality and Nella Milano colours will perfect and complement any individual style.’

On the website you can search by collection, there are eight sets and one set of top and base coat www.nellamilano.com.  You can also visit the brand on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest or Facebook to keep up to date with releases and current shades.  The price point is £8.95.  But this week, Lemon Sherbert should be on offer for £4.95, so if you like the look of this, get moving!

Models Own – Chrome Gold

Still going through these lovely Models Own Colour Chrome polishes, the whole collection of ten is really quite something.  This one is Chrome Gold, and to be honest, I only picked it up to make the sent complete – ever the polish hoarder!

Lets look at some pics

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

As you can see, I really struggled to get a good picture of the gold. Its quite a pale shade, akin to straw, so its not fully blingy and in your face.

Formula was consistent with others in the range that we have seen in the last couple of weeks. This is two coats over a base of Nailtiques 2 with no top coat.

You can pick up these polishes from the  Models Own website or go directly to  the Colour Chrome Collection page.

Spotted! Collection Mardi Gras Polishes & Ltd Ed Barry M

Two very quick spots for you today – first up, the Collection Mardi Gras range is now is Superdrug stores. Having had empty stands for a week, I’ve now seen this in three stores.  I’m kinda digging the yellow!20140617-081252-29572098.jpgThen I spotted the new limited edition Barry Ms for summer, these are the two available in Boots.  There is a different pair available in Superdrug.

20140617-081254-29574261.jpgShort and sweet this time – anything catch your eye?

Spotted! New polishes in Adsa & Collection

I know a lot of you have already stumbled upon these Champagne polishes in ASDA, but this is the first time I have seen them in person.  Not bad at £3 each.  They only come in two colours, pink and gold.20140610-173316-63196545.jpg

20140610-173314-63194542.jpgThen I spotted the empty Mardi Gras collection stand – as you can see, there will be three shades in the polish line up.  A white, a citrus yellow/green and a leaf green.

New Things I Have Spotted – More new L’Oreal Colour Riche Polishes

A quick update on the new L’Oreal glitter polishes we saw last week – seems there are actually three in the range. In larger stands I have now seen a pink and red matte glitter mix. 20140518-110307-39787614.jpg
Then MORE new L’Oreal in the form of these Jeans Effects. Although there is only three shown in the following pics I can confirm that there are two blues and two pinks available in what looks like a micro collection of four.  I am drawn to that orange/yellow on and may have to purchase before the 3 for 2 (running in both Boots and Superdrug) ends.

Missing shade 861 is a pale blue colour.  For conparisons on the US editions, you can check out this post on Nouveau Cheap.

So there you go MUCH excitement in the updated L’Oreal stands. I am NOT a fan of these skinny UK L’Oreal bottles and wish we had the same square ones as the US.  But that might just be me! Anything catch your eye?

Elevation Polish – Plumeria

The final Elevation polish from my recent purchase to share with you today.  This one is from one of the recent collections, Heights of Hawaii, released this January.

Its circle glitter central, in pinks, purples, white, yellow, green and red.  Circles are different sizes too which is nice.

I wore mine over Essie Mojito Madness, a lovely bright grass green.  Application was a bit tricky as there is so much glitter in the bottle.  The recommended application is to get lots on the brush, swipe the brush onto the inside of the bottle neck and then grab the glitters.  I put mine on doing this and using the dab and spread it about approach.  It worked quite well, although if you work too fast you end up yanking them all off again!

There are several places you can find out more about Elevation polish, first up the blog here and then the actual store (with international shipping).  Polishes do very in price depending on the finish, but usually they are around $8.50, glitter toppers are sometimes more.  Elevation restocks on set dates, more info on the blog and its clear which colours are going to be available or retired.  The website also lists some of the other stockists that sell Elevation.

What do you think?  Too much circle glitter, too many colours?  Let me know in the comments.

Elevation Polish – Quartz Monzonite

Quick post today -where are the weeks going???  Another Elevation Polish beauty for you today.  This is Quartz Monzonite, a glitter top coat.

On the Elevation Shop, its described as a Glitter topper featuring Black, Grey, Wine colored hexes, squares & Circles with sparse neon yellow micro hexes and red shimmer all in a clear base.  Can’t argue with that, I think that is spot on. And who doesn’t love circle glitter!  It is from the ‘Stones Throw’ collection (from which I wish I had also bought Limestone!).  Love this, I do need to try it with some other colours as undies – this one is Wet N Wild Megalast in On a Trip, a vibrant purple.

Children In Need Nails!

20131116-112044.jpg

Very quick post for you today, yesterday for those of us in the UK it was the BBC’s Children In Need annual extravaganza.  Its a great charity event, raising millions of pounds for disadvantaged children and their families up and down the UK.

They have a teddy bear mascot, called Pudsey, and these nails above are my homage to Pudsey’s eye bandana, which is white with these colour dots.

For the polishes I used
Cult Nails Tempest – White
Depend – Red
Essie Mojito Madness – Green
Catrice Yellow Sub-Mandarin – Yellow
Sally Hansen Brisk Blue – Blue

Topped off with a coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl.

Love this, got lots of nice comments and by this morning Children in Need has raised £31 Million!

Second Chance Saturday – Chanel Mimosa

Image from musingsofamuse.com

I’ve got Mimosa to show you today, a limited edition polish from the Summer 2011 collection Les Fleurs d’Ete de Chanel. Its a summery, buttercup yellow and was released alongside Morning Rose and Beige Petale.

OK, lets get right to the point here.  This polish is a nightmare.  Its streaky and thin and not very pigmented.

This is four coats over Glisten and Glow Stuck on Blu! topped with HK Girl.

Four coats.

The first three were all streaky.  I nearly gave up.  There is shimmer in the bottle but it definitely doesn’t translate onto the nail – which is often the case with these shimmery Chanels.  There is no self leveling of this polish either, so be prepared to really pay attention on application.

This sold out in days when it was released back in May 2011.  I also have Morning Rose, which is a dream of a polish.  The only yellow I’ve ever been happy with has been Catrice Yellow Sub Mandarin which is a joy to apply.  This, not so much.

Do you have yellow in your stash?  Which ones would you recommend and which ones would you avoid?

Salon Perfect – Bang

Ah, look at these beauties!  Thanks to my polish picking princess, I am now a proud owner of four of these little colour bombs.  These are the Neon Collision collection for Summer 2013 from Salon Perfect. These are all matte glitters in a clear base, perfect for wearing over all the colours of the rainbow.

These were released in the US and as far as I can tell, Salon Perfect is not available in  the UK, so you will either need your own polish picking princess or hit the jackpot on eBay.

Anyway, here come the pictures!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is two coats of Bang over Sinful Colors Sinful Gel Shine in Patent Pleasure.  Review of that coming soon, but I wanted to show you this one first.    Bang is orange and yellow matte glitters in a clear base.  There also seem to be a few little pink bits, but I wouldn’t have said that was super obvious.

The formula is a bit on the gloopy side, so the dollop and spread approach ensured good coverage across the nail.  It does dry rough, so if that does bother you, you will need to put on a top coat.  I wore mine over an existing mani to freshen it up, and then added a quick coat of Out the Door.  This just takes away the rough edge but it would probably take three coats to make it smooth.

I love this, my love of all polishes in any shade of orange is showing again.  Its a great way to freshen up a mani and really make it pop.  I’m quite excited about using this in different ways – accent nails, french tips, stripes etc. Plus Ii think it would look intense over white, so I might try that next.

What colours would you like to see Bang over?  Let me know in the comments!  Thanks for reading 🙂
