Finally! Chanel Summer 2014 hits the UK. It always seems to be an age for the Summer collections in particular to hit UK shores and then we get fall collections quickly. SPread them out a bit better people! Anyway, this is the ONLY bit I have bought to date – Mirabella, the one that spoke to me from the Reflets D’Ete De Chanel range.
There are five, yes 5, polishes in the range. Four are limited edition – Eastern Light (white, repromote from Asia), Sweet Lilac (lilac, duh), Pink Tonic (ummmm, pink) and this one Mirabella (orange). Only Tutti Frutti looks like it will make it to the core collection and its a pinky toned coral.
As you can see from above, Mirabella is a pretty orange shade, its not ‘hot’ orange but its certainly not pastel at all. I love this colour, its just summer perfect! What you see above it two coats over a base of G&G Stuck on Blu! and it was almost a one coat wonder. A couple of nails needed a second coat to ensure even coverage but the formula was easy to work with. I topped with a coat of G&G HK Girl to lock in colour and shine.
There has been a fair bit knocking about on the internet regarding the wear of Chanel. I have an active work, social and home life and usually change my polish daily before chips emerge. I did get 24 and a bit hours out of this before I chipped it. I really do think it depends on your base and top coat combos, like so many polishes. I like to wear the Dior Gel Top Coat over Chanel as I think that works well too – I just forgot on this occasion.
I think I might be swayed into buying three more of the polishes from this range, as a huge Chanel fan and Le Vernis collector, I’d find it hard to walk away. Can you guess which one I would probably miss?
Oh my, it looks lovely. It’s not the right time of year for me to get Chanels now though 😦
I usually manage December (Christmas), February (birthday), March (Mother’s Day), June (anniversary). Might have to buy it myself!
